The fact that the dub they hated were mostly the ones they got wrong tells a story in itself.

I watched the show both dubbed and subbed, and several of the voices you guys are hearing are being played at scenes where there is a lot of emotion. Like Levi talking to Kenny for example, Levi was emotional and frustrated here and that's why his voice sounds more agitated. In normal scenes, his voice is more chill.

Historia's voice was actually more high pitch in the first season. Also Levi in the dub does have a calm voice a lot

No offense but this video is incredibly annoying. The dub isn’t that bad. Armin and Levi’s voice actors are especially good in my opinion. The clips you got for them couldn’t have been picked worse.

Reiner and Levi's Are A Lot Deeper Than They Are In The Clips It's Just The Scenes And The Quality Of The Sound That Made Them Sound Like That

dude this video doesn’t do any of the dub actors justice AT ALL. especially Levi, Reiner, Eren and Erwin. dub Eren in season 2 has one of the most iconic lines from AOT. and Levi and Erwin have some of the best dubs i’ve ever heard but these clips are quite possibly the worst ones that could’ve been shown😭 Listen to Levi when he fights zeke or when he shouts Kenny. Or Erwin’s advance in S2 and his speech in S3 and it’ll showcase how good this dub actually is

A lot of people have said it already, but these were the worst clips to judge, and they aren't nearly long enough. That was a scene if Historia being series. Levi was angry. Armin was yelling. Eren's voice is supposed to deep in Season 4. Mikasa was practically crying. etc. Also going in with a lense of not liking Dubbed(or not preferring it )is going to make you instantly write it off. If you watch something subbed the dubbed voices will sound off. If you watch some dubbed the subbed voices will sound off. AOT is on a high tier for dubs.

I get not liking a dub, especially when you watched sub first because it just makes sense you'd identify the japanese voices with the characters, but god damn you insulted it so much, and with extremely specific scenes too where the voices aren't as they usually are.

Armin's dub voice is one of the best choices in the cast in my opinion. If the clip was the whole speech, it'd probably sit better with everyone. To be fair, that's the case with each one. I would've preferred it to be a compilation of voice clips rather than one short clip each. You can't judge a dub by a few words from each character.

AOT dubs are good it’s just one of those that you come to love once you watch and hear it over time, I like both dubs and subs

The sub riding is real and some of the clips are just basic and don’t capture the necessary parts, the dub is absolutely INCREDIBLE for this show

The problem I have is that the clips are too singular, you need multiple voice clips to properly convey the voice of the character. You can't just have one clip of them yelling or talking really loudly and expect it to represent the entire range of the character's voice. You have to have clips of them speaking normal, clips of them yelling and clips of them speaking loudly.

Its funny to me how you judge and say the voice isn't right for the character when you're only listening to a 2 second voice clip.

It says a lot about my auditory abilities when I knew the Reiner voice immediately not because of recognizing the voice itself since I haven't watched the show in English, but because I recognized the music that was playing it the background, and exactly when that happened. You have the music swell with the reveal of Reiner and Bertholdt being titans plus when they're attacked then knocked down, then you hear the solo female singer as they both get back up and transform as the lightning strikes the wall and sends everything flying away. I remember it all so clearly.

I love how they judge the VAs so harshly based on 2 second audio clips, not even giving them a chance just so brainwashed by the idea of sub supremacy that they cant hear anything else and think its good. They're literally so proud of the fact that they watch sub that they bash the dub voice actors for not meeting their mental standards.

Honestly, it feels like they chose the clips that would deliberately make the dub sound bad, like choosing a scene were Levy is pissed and then complain that he doesn't sound calm enough when the Levy has the same calm voice in the sub and dub.

I've watched AOT in dub all the way through multiple times and I couldn't even get some of these right. Whoever picked these clips went out of their way to choose some of the worst ones. I thought the Levi one was Bertholdt, I don't recall Levi ever sounding like that in the show normally. Same with Mikasa, Armin, and Erwin. Also throwing in that random young Rod Reiss one was just unfair. The clips they chose do absolutely no justice to the dub for this show.

I just looked it up on wiki, and the guy that voices Levi (Matt Mercer) also voices Hit in DB Super. Considering how calm and chill Hit's character is, I can see that voice being appropriate for Levi.

You guys should react to the S2E6 “Reiner and Bertholdt transformation” scene (dubbed version). You’ll hear the character’s voices with more context and you’ll get to hear both Eren’s English roar and Bertholdt’s roar, which isn’t in the Japanese version.

Wow, those chosen clips were weirdly specific to the point that it got tricky even for me at times. Like they were so situational that their voices sounded different than they usually do. Reiner & Levi’s dub voices are usually pretty deep in the dub. Those clips were from situations where they were stressed out, resulting in their voices sounding not as deep as usual. And judging a dub based on small clips isn’t really fair. That clip with with Historia’s dad in a flashback was really weird, as he got the least amount of flashbacks compared to the rest of the characters. And his young and older voices sounding really different ain’t helping. Sasha, Hange and Historia tended to sound different in serious situations, especially Historia around season 3 and Hange in season 4 when they developed. Not sure what one of you guys were talking about with Erwin’s voice. It sounded pretty natural to me. Maybe because I’ve seen worse examples of try hard deep voices before (looking at you current voice of Knuckles from the Sonic series). Armin’s dub voice is honestly pretty good. I feel like it’s one of the better examples of “character being voiced by woman in Japan while voiced by a man in the dub” type of casting. Maybe it’s due to Armin being in his mid teens making me accept the not as high pitched voice (looking at you dub Hanako voice from “Toilet Bound Hanako”). And I’m really not sure what’s up with how you judged that Eren clip. That clip was clearly from season 4, via the different character designs, and Eren’s voice was pretty deep too in the Japanese dub/subs in that season. Not sure how you guys forgot about that big change in that season.
