I am happy you made a video for this wonderful plant fibre. When we were young we used to take bath with this natural loofah only. And it used to make us feel so fresh and rejuvenated. I started missing it badly once we moved to cities. Keep going Anuj

It's a very familiar thing for me. My grandmother & mother have used it. Some of TORI/JHINGA used to be left to mature & dry naturally. Then seeds used to be extracted for the next season & the leftover was the loofah. How eco-friendly & multipurpose was everything that used to be grown! Unfortunately, we have now shifted to plastic loofah. I hope, we shall return to our root very soon, perhaps, in a new way.

It used to grow in my garden. I and my grandmother dried it and used it as loofah. I have never actually used a plastic one because after using the tori loofah you won't like the plastic one.

Yes. I regularly used this loofah. We called it " bhol sasraa". Bhol is the vegetable name in Assamese. This vegetable is very tasty. Here in Assam, one can buy 2 PC in rs 10 or 5 PC in rs 20. And its really long lasting. I used singleone for last 3 to 4 months. Just remember to dry it after use. Good if it is sun dried. Fur better thn plastic loofah. Easily dried by air also.

Proud to use natural loofah. ....i never use plastic one.....1 thing more, i don't think it's ridge gourd, it is similar but a wild variety which is actually bitter, that's why it is(& was ) used in cleaning purpose. .... It z called " pitaa taradaa" in Odia, whereas ridge gourd is called "janhi" ....

In my childhood, my mother used to bathe us with this... As we had this plant at our home. But when we grow up, we shift toward fancy plastic one... A few years back, a girl said she has purchased organic loofah... I told about this to my mom and she taunted that "free me ghar pr ug rha tha to bazaar se lene gyi... Ab ye bhi market me milne lga"
