모두 추석을 잘 보내셨나요? 저희가 전주에 내려가서 시어머님과 요리를 했어요. 오랜만에 같이 전 부침개 도와줬어요! 추석 때 무슨 전을 좋아하세요? 저희는 명태전, 오징어전, 고구마전, 육전만 만들었어요. 갈비도 처음 만들어봤어요.
Last week we celebrated 'Chuseok". "Chuseok" is like Korean thanksgiving. It is the mid-autumn harvest festival. On Chuseok, families get together and cook lots of delicious food. We made fritters and galbi. Galbi is braised short ribs with vegetables such as carrot, radish and chestnut. While cutting the vegetables for the galbi, my mother-in-law explained that we have to cut off all the sharp edges. This way, our life and relationships with family and friends will be smoother. I love that there is a special meaning to every food in Korean culture! Different foods signify different things.
