This looks like the stroke used on a venetian gondola, except you never take the blade out of the water.

Your paddle seems longer than perhaps any novices paddle what is your height and the length of your paddle?

I'm about 5 ft 11 and the paddle is 58 inches. My measurement technique is to put tip of paddle on my toe put both palms of my hands on the grip and my chin should rest comfortably on top of my hands by tilting down slightly.
