I was fortunate to paddle the canoe in the video when attending a workshop put on by the Conovers. The canoe felt like a leaf on the water.

I’m trying to remember why Alexandra is so familiar to me. Maybe Canoe Magazine years ago… still skilled. Beautiful canoe.

Standing ? and shooting the rapids ??? … well , if practice makes perfect , I can tell ya that I’ve tried it several times and it doesn’t work … I was lucky to not bash my head on the rocks and retrieve a flipped canoe !!!

Hmmm - pole-ers pretty routinely stand and maneuver up and down rapids while standing. And paddlers as well. I'll certainly agree that it takes a lot of work to get there (and that I'm not even close), butfolks do do both.

I believe she is referring to class I maybe II rapids with easy lines to define. I have poled up class I rapids standing without a problem. The proper canoe for standing, such as a prospector really helps as well.
