Anybody else get a kick out of Todd playing the Travis Style pickin’. Seriously i’d like to see him become a member of the CGP group with Steve Wariner. I love Lemmo but Todd is just a natural very calm spoken and relaxed and just in his niche when he demo any guitar.

That guitar has the tone I hear in my head when I think about early 60s Gibson acoustic guitars. Nice easy going demo from Todd.

i found my 1973 dove custom in my closet. im only 14 and i’ve lived in the same house my whole life. i’ve never opened my closet door and i started playing guitar a year ago. i opened the door and saw a gibson case and had to pick the lock to get it open. it turns out it was grandfathers who died before i was born. everybody forgot about it.

Big sound , very bright and resonant , a very talented guitar player , luved the last song especially , lots of parts that all ring out in unison , bass , treble , rythym , melody , lead , well done , I always eagerly await flatop friday , to hear Lemmo play , but this was a rare treat , thanks Todd , and Jen.

Sold my 65 Dove to Mark Knopfler... A tad bit cleaner than this fine example ... Sorry I let it go but it found a good home... He said its the only acoustic that he takes everywhere he goes. Great guitar ! One of the finest era square shoulders Gibson ever made for certain. :)

Around a month ago. This random guy my dad bought from just gave me an alverez dove copy. I commented ,a guitar like that needs to be inside safe or stored away. He says ok take it home and take xare of it. U can have it. Lol wtf? Is this real life? No guitar player would give this guitar away. It was thrown on a pile of junk in his garage. 30th

Don’t think the true sound of that Dove is coming across so well (that bridge spoils it for me), but it looks great and Todd’s doing some nice playing.

I have an older Alvarez copy of the Dove. They are loud speakers. Im not sure what the white material is exactly that contacts the strings but you can get metal ones. Eventually the string chews a groove deep into them. I hope Gibson doesnt see this comment and come take my counterfeit Dove. Im sure they will atleast get Mark to "put me on notice lol Love ya Mark! I have a 1964 Gibson Dove as well, with a basically all,original parts, the case isn’t. Had to get another one. Hated the tune -o-matic bridge, so I replaced it. Overall, it plays and sounds just as good as this one.

In my opinion if there is a mint 1960's guitars or older, well it eighter means whoever owned didnt play or if the did play it doesn't sound great, I'd rather have a banged up southern jumbo then a mint southern jumbo. But this dove does sound decent, a banged up guitar means whoever had it couldn't put it down .

I only wish I had been so fortunate as a 13yr guitar noob, and been exposed to this level of talent, fingerstyle, amazing ppl we see at Norms. Lol my God to have this store local. Or even one like it. I can tell you all that when a kid walks in with an interest in guitar, and they witness the musicianship with helpful cool ppl to chill n learn from. Omg what an inspiring paradigm shift that is. My town store was owned by a grumpy 60+ lady. She watched like ur about to steal or touch something. and followed behind you. Buy something kid or piss off, No you cant try that guitar lol this aint Namm kid. Dont look at is so long either. Your eyes are ruining the finish. Are you buying today? Ok get out. How many ppl did she scare away, discourage, from the instrument? Im guessing a shit load. Guitar cant be that fun if she owns all these instruments and is still so negative. Il juat get a Cow Bell

This mid-sixties Dove dosn't sound as bright, crtisp and maple-like as I had hoped. The person playing this instrument seemed to play fine, but the guitar still sounded like it hadn't opend up yet. Maybe if that thing was allowed outside its' jail-like case for a few days and then played hard for a few hours, it mght open up. But a player ccn get as more brightness and sustain out of a Maton EBF-808 series for a fraction of the cost. ,

Please include joel, live is live. Drum machines are not very cool. Tempo and cadence can change slightly, tempo can breathe. It takes a human soul to give it life

I wonder how Gibson could have built such a beautiful guitar and then put that bridge on there. There was nobody in the company at the time that knew the physics of an acoustic guitar? They must have all been deaf or high. Those are always in good shape because they're only good for hanging on the wall.

Guitar Ocd there is a luthier on KZfaq, his channel is called twoodfrd, who recently uploaded a video of mod to a 50s Gibson acoustic that included inlaying a piece of rosewood into the over sized bridge route then routing that for a regular compensated bone saddle. Seemed like something that any competent luthier could handle and it definitely changed the tone of the instrument to something much more traditional, whether that’s better or worse is in the eye of the beholder. These guitars are not beyond redemption.

Not sure the massive guard helps the sound ??what where Gibson thinking glue a massive piece of plastic to the top massive bridge and ABR 1 WHAT??? SOUND IS CHOKED Oh its VINTAGE right!! not set up top E string is pinging strings sound like they are from 64 come on Norm have the mother set up!

I have yet to hear a Gibson acoustic that sounds good to me. They always sound thin and unresponsive. I feel like they never really mastered the acoustic guitar sound. Great playing Todd, just don’t like the tone. I like the Travis picking!

Older J200s are amazing full bodied sounding acoustics. I had a 72 was the best guitar I've ever played. I've owned Martin's Taylor's but none could match that. Although I've never played a newer J200 that I would even want at half the price.
