Definitely check out the music for the special infected, those are the musical cues in the game that play when they spawn and how you know what you're about to encounter.

Left 4 Dead 2 has a whole level dedicated to a fake rock band named "Midnight Riders", I think they have a whole "fake" but actually real album you can find that they made for the game.
