You can pour from the larger can by making a V out of tape on the lip of the can. Pour and remove the tape and the rim is clean

Your skills are varied and excellent Brad. Some of this discussion reminded me of the learning curve I had to go through when I spray painted my audi with DNA paints. Came out mint.

There is this stuff called Trizact made by 3M that doesn't clog with lacquer, but it's only sold in belts.

The good old star huh? I bet that's seen some action. I had a Star and a DeVilbiss GTI. I love spray guns, I always stripped my guns after every job. It pays off in the long run, my guns still look new after 20 years

I've used the DeVilbiss GTI at work and it was a joy. I've had this gun for over 15 years and have never needed to replace anything due to my meticulous cleaning, lubrication and care. Star, DeVilbiss, ANEST IWATA are fantastic choices and I wouldn't use anything less.

Someone gave me an old worn out SpeedAire that had blown out valves, but those old SpeedAire compressors used reed valves. Two sets of cheap feeler gauges later I and had a great working USA made compressor, but about 18 months ago some shit bag stole it. The last SpeedAire I looked at on Craigslist was $6000! USD. To be fair it was larger. I thought the mother F'er had got my evap dryer & filters too but I found them. I got some tamper resistant transformer bolts from APS and bolted the new compressor down with 5 sided bolt heads set down inside reducing washers. Unless someone has a 5 sided socket it ain't going anywhere. I could have also had cad cut washers welded to pipe to set the heads down into.

I've worked with plenty of "professional" painters that could learn a few things from you Brad! My only question is do you have any issues with dust/paint flakes in the finish from that garbage bag? If you use antistatic plastic it wont attract dust and it'll hold onto overspray that falls on it

Nah, for one or two coats, I just blast it with air and it's fine.

@@BradsGuitarGarage yeah, I’ve never had an issue on a guitar but if I'm painting 2 pack on a car that garbage bag spells trouble, anything you can do to reduce dust is beneficial.
