Most guitarists won't realize enough how important bassists are until they're in a band. Whether the bassist plays complex or simple lines, the guitarist will feel empty in the band without them. A bass can have some limited melodic capabilities, but when the guitarist is in need of help incase of a problem, the bassist can help save or maintain the overall groove or music created.

Totally especially with rhcp because they have flea. I don't get to play enough but even just playing with tabs you just notice the huge difference between the song in you head and the single line of meldoy youre playing
@sammaloney1746
@sammaloney1746 3 жыл бұрын
Man the bass can have super complex melodic capabilities too. A bass and a guitar are practically the same except the strings are thinker. If you imagine it like building a guitar with a massive neck where the strings start off at the thinnest guitar string and go up to the thickest bass...it wouldn't even take that long to get there and it would be piano like! Hell the Ox thunderfingers himself rocked that shit as the lead to townsends rythm.

I love everything about this. 0:32 john breaks his strings in the middle of a solo and continues to the end, 0:35 plays the end of the broken note to signal to the band somethings wrong and continues his solo. 0:41 and 0:46 he works the broken string sound into a solo. 1:20 flea sees an opportunity to duet with john. 2:04 Flea segues into the first bar for a 4/4 bass line and looks up at chad to queue him in. 2:11 john's watching chad as he hits his queue to drum. 2:51 flea starts pulling back to keep band from digressing too much and everyone catches on immediately,

@nozzie1640
@nozzie1640 3 жыл бұрын
soloing without a string honestly isnt as hard as i think people think it is, most of the time when you’re soloing you’re playing around scales and chord shapes. and when you’re doing this you are trying not to play up and down the notes in the scales but rather jumping across strings playing with feel and then playing around chord shapes on the grander chords (V, I). You aren’t being required to use every string when you do this because like I said you aren’t attempting to hit every note in the scale/chord. if you break your sixth string (low E) its barely makes it any harder to solo, it only becomes difficult when you break your 2 highest strings (B, e) because most solos revolve around playing higher notes to stand out from the guitar parts in other parts of the song. even then its still entirely possible to solo especially if you are primarily just bending. i own an ibanez at the moment with a broken high e string because i havent had the chance to buy new strings and its only slightly harder to improvise than it is on my fully stringed prs. the only genre ive found it actually difficult to improvise in without a string is jazz. in jazz you primarily play around 2 octave arpeggios which ive just found very difficult to sound nice without my e string. it sounds a bit contradicting because i said when john solos he uses chord shapes a lot which is pretty easy. but just trust me, i feel like it requires a decent amount of experience to state something like that and im sorry if i sound retarded or ignorant its lowkey like 4am and im tired as fucc.

This video shows the best example of how a perfect synchronized band should be: 1. John's string breaks but he adapts to it and changes his soloing style from fast to bending. 2. Flea plays some accompaniment bass that turns into a bass solo to help his guitar colleague. 3. Chad studies the situation and synchronizes everything, giving a perfect entry at 2:05. 4. Anthony keeps out while dances and animates the stage

Good thing he was playing a telecaster this time. It has a fixed bridge. Unlike the stratocaster he usually plays, which had a floating bridge, which means that if one string breaks, the resulting change in tension cam cause all of the other strings to shift and go out of tune. This doesn't happen on a guitar like a telecaster, nice and simple, and reliable, guitars.
