This is a transcription of Matteo Mancuso playing Falcon Flight during his interview with Rick Beato. This song is a supreme demonstration of what he can do on the guitar, and also illustrative of his many influences (including Eddie Van Halen, Allan Holdsworth, and Eric Johnson).

I think he is my new favorite guitarist. Especially after seeing the recent NAMM videos of him playing with his dad.

Been a HUGE fan from the 1st moment I saw him how many years ago. I'm STILL left with my mouth wide open when I see him, and one word ALWAYS flashing in my mind's eye, "HOW?!"

I'm really glad they put the tabs with this. This is going to be So easy to play, I was going to struggle without them 😂. I think it's quiet clear that this guy has to be about THE best guitarist on the planet. I know that ordinarily that would be a very stupid thing to say. I think in this instance it is true.

Is that a Jason Becker cover? I’m not familiar with Tina S. Would you rather I just transcribe the Jason Becker original version? In any case, I have some stuff that I’m working on that I think you’ll really like, especially if you like Jason Becker! Stay tuned

It’s too bad such great players are intent on playing this type of fusion trash, the most annoying and corny sounding of all the genres.
@Always_Guitar
@Always_Guitar Ай бұрын
It’s an acquired taste. I like it because it unites rock guitar tone/technique with complex harmonic ideas that you wouldn’t otherwise find in a popular rock song. I think this song is called “Falcon Flight” because of the way the chords descend chromatically, like a falcon diving downward.

@@Always_Guitar I can appreciate the technical and musically interesting aspects of the style. I also understand why lots of these artists gravitate towards it because it really gives them the ability to showcase their virtuosity. I personally just can’t vibe with it. It’s up there with contemporary country music in terms of the sickly, ticky tacky sounds it produces that just make me feel a certain way that I do not enjoy. No shade though. Someone once said something wise to me which I believe to be true “All music is bad” 😂
@Always_Guitar

@JUNO-69 If you haven’t done so already, try listening to Pat Metheny. I think his style may be more approachable than guys like Gambale and Holdsworth. Metheny actually doesn’t shred as much, although he definitely could. I think he has more melodic ideas that might hit your ear better. But if you’ve already tried him and it didn’t resonate, no worries.
@JUNO-69
@JUNO-69 Ай бұрын
@@Always_Guitar I must say I do find Metheny very interesting from what I’ve heard. I must listen to some more. You can really feel the deep connection he has with the music. I’m going to sound like such a hater lol but I really tried with Holdsworth after him being rated “best of all time” in any comments section that devolves into that topic. I truly cannot stand his sound. That type of consistent outside playing feels way over the top and I really don’t like the comments of people saying “no one can even understand what he’s doing” as if that makes him better or puts him on a higher level than anyone else. I will say I thank him for giving us the band meshuggah who I really enjoy and owe a lot to his approach. I think the players I really enjoy are able to take bits and pieces from all these players and styles and use them as parts of their greater vocabulary. They will rip out one of those outside runs right at the perfect moment and it all sounds beautifully musical. I’ll go check out some more Pat Methany though. Thanks form the recommendation

@@JUNO-69i'm glad i'm not the only one thinking like that, being a guitarrist myself i tried with Holdsworth but didn't get it. I think all his hard core fans are just pretentious 😅... i know he could play anything just like Mancuso can, but they chose to play this genere that doesn't make me feel anything i can't connect with it, it just sound like mall music to me, there are no memorable melodies or enjoyable themes, sad but true still, i know Mancuso is one of the greatest, amazing technique
