I've always had so much respect for key players who can do that. Another of my favorite players is a young girl (I think she is 17 or 18 now, I can't remember) called "Domi" and she is un-freaking-believable. She might not be to the level of Cory Henry yet, but she doesn't need to be. Her style is also very different, too. She plays with another kid who is even a year or two younger than she is called "J.D. Beck" and he's already ridiculously good drummer. I highly recommend looking up those two if you haven't already. They just did a set on the "Zildjian Live" series which, by the way, needs to be at the top of your list right now if you haven't been watching them yet. Larnell Lewis did a set on the series last summer and OMG he is a beast. The house band for the series was put together by Sput Searight, who is another prominent Snarky Puppy drummer, and Nate Werth, who is the incredible percussionist for Snarky Puppy.

That's why I love watching Sean Martin doing the 'ole facepalm once Cory gets going and then eventually he's like "you know what, fuck this, I can't even sit next to this guy right now" and then to goes to sit with the rest of the audience in awe of what is happening on the keyboards. I think, perhaps, my favorite thing about Snarky Puppy is how much respect each of them have for each other. Mike League constantly with the stank face during solos of other band members. The icing on the cake is that ALL OF THEM are master class musicians and they *still* can sit there in awe of what their bandmates pull out of their arse on any given night. I love it so damn much!

I once even saw him do a completely improvised mind-blowing set with Isaiah Sharkey on guitar (who played with John Mayer, and Taron Lockett (who played with Prince, Snoop Dog, Willie Nelson etc.) on drums Seriously think Cory Henry could play a watermelon with his ass and make better music than most. This set of sessions for "We Like It Here" was the 3rd time in a row that Snarky recorded an album LIVE in a studio (with an audience), previous instances are "Tell Your Friends" and "Ground Up" (great videos of pretty much all of that stuff). They chose to do that because they are first and foremost a LIVE band, this is how they play all the time. OK, it is true that when they do this, they do multiple runs through the material, like might book 4 nights in the studio and do 2 sets each night with the audience, so they do get maybe 8 takes of every tune, and obviously the ones we see in the recording are the best takes, but still. I've seen Snarky play live 8 times over the past few years, and their performances are aways insanely wonderful.

I have been putting on that clip several times since I saw and heard it the first time a couple of years ago. It's so incredible and I almost react like you every time I listen to it (maybe more on the inside instead of the outside) but you are very good at showing your feelings on the outside :D *high five* I loved seeing your reaction to one of the best (if not the best) performances I've seen in my life.

This is definitely where all the cool kids hang out!! Love this... Snarky Puppy is such a great band. I got an email from TrueFire yesterday promoting their brand new Jam Band Licks course, so of course I clicked on it to check it out. What to my surprise the course is taught by none other than our very own wicked good, Mikey Palmisano!! Couldn’t have purchased it any faster. I’m still on the first lesson about the Garcia-style A to B mixolydian runs. It’s phenomenal brother!! You did an amazing job and I can’t wait to dig into it even further!! 🎸🔥

This was so fun. I really wouldn't be surprised if you'd heard him before, but I would LOVE to see you watch Jacob Collier's stuff. He's an absolute musical genius who plays just about every instrument ever made. He has many many must-sees, but his arrangement of the Flintstones theme was one of his first Grammy winners. He has bigger, more mind melting stuff (Moon River, All Night Long) but I think starting with his earlier, more pared down stuff might be nice. The guy's a real treasure, though and I'd love to overload you with other song recommendations if you like him.

My reaction exactly everytime I watch Lingus. Also note that the video producer Colin Benders used to be a known Dutch trumpeteer (Kyteman) and is currently mainly known as a techno composer/producer working with modular synthesizers. The recording is in his studios which used to be a well known pop venue in Utrecht (tivoli Oudegracht). Some info from a Dutchie :)

This song rocks, but there is another song on this album called 'What about me'. It's filmed in the same way and room and everything. And it's like this song crossed with Jimi Hendrix and there is another guitarist in the band called Bob Lanzetti. And he delivers one of the eeriest and most fascinating guitar solos I have seen in a while. Definitely check it out if you thought this was awesome. Edit: It also has Larnell (the drummer) give one of his most badass performances.

this composition sets the stage for one of the most brilliant keyboard solos we've all been blessed to enjoy. Thank you Cory Henry. This is obviously not the first time you've heard this, so it's not your first reaction. If it were, you would continue to be spellbound during the coda instead of playing along; Cory's brilliant imagination and kinetic energy doesn't let up and actually increases the musical excitement as he interacts with the horns in a magnificent display of contrapuntal ingenuity. He's a genius. Thank you for your channel!
