I took LSD 250 and completely lost my mind. 10 hours later I just sit in taxi and took my ass to the most beautiful place in my city (Moscow). I walked ~2 hours just listening this live version and completely understood that our live is just place where we struggling, hurting and winning. I just want you to know, that yall not supposed to be afraid of your life conditions. As Stevie sayed, we have 1 chance in this live to get over here, so God gives us chance to LIVE this pain and to get free. So all of our situations in life only for understanding the law of karma. That’s so deep. I think the people can listen this masterpiece for 1000+ times and took their mind to the other demension. Peace for all of you, guys. We got some hard times, so we need some MIND CONNECTIONS, please DREAM, CREATE, WORK… Just do, what you want/supposed to do, people. I love yall. ❤️

@@andrewsmith1353I love SRV, however He kinda killed blues in my opinion. Nowadays almost every blues player sound like him, the long solos and also the way the guitar sounds when they play, they sound a lot like SRV. It wasn't like that before him. I mean, taking apart the ones that have been playing for longer than Stevie.
@bribblr
@bribblr 4 ай бұрын
@@felipez7113 yes and no. Killed? a little harsh. If anything all those people trying to replicate SRV would mean he revived it, as was his main goal. I do agree that there are many copy cats but it also depends on context. Believe they're using his licks? Well he used licks from those that came before him so if anything he would advocate for it. I do get annoyed when a player just repeats SRV licks over and over, but I try to remind myself that they could be at a different stage in their guitar playing journey. Any player that's had an SRV phase has done it to some extent.
@felipez7113
@felipez7113 4 ай бұрын
@@bribblr SRV sounds like SRV, BB King sounds like BB King, Buddy Guy sounds like Buddy Guy and so on. If people sound like SRV nowadays, it means blues died long time ago, because nobody is doing anything new. Taking apart very few people, like Joe Bonamassa. Take Kingfish for ex, great guitar player. However I don't thing he's doing anything new, like Leslie West did for example, playing blues like rock and roll. The same goes to the other players, they just sound like SRV, they don't sound like themselves, it is annoying. Jimmy Page sounds like Jimmy Page, he doesn't sound like Brain May or Tony Iommi.

I remember riding in my older brother's truck (with a 3 on the tree that I didn't understand) and the DJ announced that Stevie Ray Vaughan died in a helicopter crash last night. My brother let out some sort of a NOOO! and I asked who he was. My brother wasn't a waterworks kind of guy, but I did see some tears pool up in his eyes. When we got to his house, he played this song on CD, and my love of Stevie Ray was born. Before my brother died, I told him I love him and thank you for introducing me to Stevie's music.

Another one of my favorite Stevie performances. That guitar was custom made by Charlie Wirz, his former woodworking shop teacher that let Stevie work on his guitar during class, later turned guitar shop owner. The art work on the back is a hula girl! Stevie wrote this song for Charle after his passing! The irony in this is that it seems he wtote his own eulogy. Stevie figured out the true meaning of life is love before he passed at age 35. It took me until age 55 to figure it out. Im going to be 63 in 3 days. I saw Stevie, Double Trouble, BB King and surprise guest Lonnie Mack on New Year's Eve Dec 31, 1986, ringing in 1987 at the Fabulous Fox Theater in Atlanta, GA. Best performance and show ever! Straight out of rehab he introduced himself as Mr. Clean! I think he's the best! No. 1 in my book everyday of the week when he was alive and i still do all these years after his passing in 1990. I love the little speeches he does on the break during his live performances. "Love is all you're born with. Love is the only thing you can take with you when you leave here. You better spread as much love around as you can while you're here." SRV ❤

My favorite SRV solo, every live performance of it is different yet magical and better than the recording. Especially when this song was dedicated to his friend's memory (the same friend who built the lipstick pickup guitar he plays this song on) and he would always give a speech in between melting faces on the importance of love, being present, and later his sobriety. For easy listening on Spotify the "Live at Montreaux Casino July 1985" is probably the best guitar solo I have ever heard.

Great analysis! Yet you combined your attention to the technical with rapt appreciation for Stevie's pure expression of emotion throughout the performance. In his playing he exemplifies the triumph possible through trials, whether working with a guitar that needs to be tuned on the fly or even overhauled... or with a life that is out of tune. His message is clear. We need to learn a few things. We each are given an instrument, a life. We are not alone in our losses, our struggles, or our opportunities to make the most of what we've been given. Sometimes we are tired, hurting, missing someone who was a blessing... but in remembering the encouragement that strengthened us, we get the courage somehow to carry on, despite the things that are out of tune. Hope and resolve....free something in us, despite what tries to hold us in chains. It gives our spirit the voice we were meant to have. (BTW... if you held off just a moment more before cutting off the video, you would have heard the comment Stevie made to everyone about getting his guitar tuned. 🙂🎶🎸🙏. It wasn't long after this concert that he managed to overcome the challenge of his addictions.) Thank you, Michael, for contributing to our continued discovery of SRV... his skills, his talent, his soul... and the connection we are privileged to make to the potential to help ourselves and others.

I have to say that your reactions are so great! I can see and more importantly feel how much you love the music and your emotional reactions are certainly as genuine as you can get. My first love was guitar but i learned really quick that I just didn't have any chance to play. I have the privilege of being born the same day as SRV except 16 years later. Oct.3rd 1970. Unfortunately that is the only thing I had in common with the blues God! Although i found my talent in a beat up old drum kit. The very first time i picked up the sticks I realized that I had found my true love. I was watching your reaction to srv Texas flood live at the el Macombo. I literally felt how much you actually love what you do. I realized that the way you were reacting is the same exact way i act when I hear great music. It's undescribable how it makes me feel.
