I saw them twice and damageplan once, all eyes were always on dime. The crowd when nuts when that pink goatee started coming out of the shadows haha so crazy that he was murdered. It's still hard to believe after all this time.

12:46 I can't remember if he ever did a full Hendrix song or solo, but he did often do the main riff the Purple Haze several times in the Pantera tours from 92-98, usually accompanied with a giant flaming papier-mache joint being carried like the Olympic torch across the stage. Probably the best quality audio and video of him playing Purple Haze is at the very end of a video called "Pantera - Live in Los Angeles, CA (1992) [8mm Master + SBD Audio]" at the 1:01:05 mark.

There is a video of Dime just turned 18 pre-fame. I would love your critique on that. Grady his tech would tape his neck pickup to keep the high e from catching. Dime had many music influences. Brit Metal, He Loved Judas Priest. Eddie Van Halen, His Father was a Producer and Engineer who had a recording studio he grew up with Rock, Southern fried rock, (ZZ Top) Country Western, Tex Mex, Blues, Vinnie his brother said that Tito Puente was an influence on them both

Dime quit improvising solos live because when he spoke with fans at shows they often commented that he didn’t play the solo right, so he just played them closer to the studio versions. And yes, the Krank amps were tube amps

8:25 I believe at that time he was actually using the dunlop pedal for the pitch shift. id say thats circa '94 or so. and at his clinic in 93 he did talk about using a dunlop pedal for the pitch. and then proceeded to say: " Look kids, steve vai!. but he does it without that pedal" or something like that

Kranks were tube, and I don't think there is any video or audio recording other than the one in the video at 5:00, which is very unfortunate, cause he definitely made a big new step in his tone, and we did not have a chance to see what could he do with it.

@@JbfMusicGuitar yes, in 2004. There are some pictures of Krank (tube) cabs on stage when he played Damageplan, but those were empty, as he did not want to risk live performance with the gear he was not very familiar with. Other than the footage from Krank office, I don’t think there is any.

@@JbfMusicGuitar Thanks Bro my 3 favorite Dime solos if interested are in the songs Floods, The Sleep, and We'll Meet Again which the last one is off there Power Metal record which is part of there glam era they went through before Cowboys From Hell album and Power Metal is the first album with Phil Anselmo as there singer anyway Thanks for doing this about Dime alot people love him for his guitar work but from fans to other musicians they all say he was the coolest nicest down to earth rock star ever, treated everyone as equals never thought he was better than you type of guy that's one reason why I love that guy besides his guitar work so so sad he was taken from us for no damn reason

I saw Pantera at the Palace of Auburn Hills in 1999 I think it was, with Deftones opening, pantera, and then Black Sabbath farewell tour was the headline. Pantera played for like 2 hours they were incredible and dimebag drank a fuckin fifth of Jaeger ON STAGE during the concert - Deftones were amazing live, most people weren't even there yet when they started

What i loved about Dime was... Even when Pantera was huge... He still had his feet planted firmly to the ground. ALWAYS had time for fans. Every "celebrity" should take notes on how to treat the ones who pay your bills in the end.

@@JbfMusicGuitar I’m from, literally, the town directly next to where Pantera is from. It was not uncommon to see them at a pool hall or a bar when they were in town. Lots of chances to ask him guitar related questions amigo. The loss of Dimebag is still felt hard to this day. Hands down THE nicest, most humble, caring, down to earth human ever. They are HIGHLY revered in Dallas/Fort Worth. Keep up the good vids brother.

That 3rd fret squall is great but there's another in between the 2nd & 3rd fret too & the highest most difficult that Dime used was the 2nd fret squeal it's my fav I have spent hours just doing the Dime Squeal technique & it takes that to really understand & execute it consistently & precisely it's really fun to play with

Which is exactly why everyone knows who Ron Jackoff is, if he was so good someone would at least know his name maybe Ron Jackoff had Rockstar syndrome like malmsteen ,evidently he didn't know how to write songs very good ,my point being dime wasn't just a guitar player he was also part a very tight band that worked together that's how they all got where the where, it takes alot to get it everything correct and be on top dime did it Ron jackoff didnt

Yes, I hate his playing so very much that I've made 6 videos on his style, tricks, licks and techniques. I mean, come on dude... The idea that you can't have an opinion on something, without doing it yourself (eg. writing a famous solo) is really just quite silly. If you apply the same logic to your comment- have you made lessons analysing Dimebags playing? No? Then you can't comment on this topic, see how daft a hill that is to die on?
