I currently live in CA, but with all of these dumb laws, I am so tempted to move to Arizona. But, if every pro-gun people left California, we would let them win and allow them to push their views on other states. Californians must not comply.

I'm in Los Angeles and I find irony that you both are 2,000+ miles away; angrier than most of the 3 million firearm owners in the state. Yes, it sucks being us. I also think the NRA has dropped the ball (i.e. given up) helping 2A folks in this state. Calguns has been more active (with much less financial support/clout) than the NRA for Californians.

The Peoples Republic was a lost cause 20 years ago, when I moved out of state... It's a state dominated by large liberal urban populations that are only familiar with guns because of nightly news stories about mass shootings and gang-banging hoods. I grew up in LA and saw the LA riots. It's a cesspool. Get out before you're "friends" with some homeboy in LA County jail. I left pissed off over paying taxes, obeying stupid laws and still being legislated as a criminal for rifles I owned. I've never regretted leaving...

I agree with you. Born and raised in L.A., I've seen it AND experienced it all. People see the Rose Bowl on TV thinking 'hey, its sunny in SoCal in January and I'm freezing my butt off in Denver...St Louis...Cleveland...and so on. I'm moving to SoCal!! Cost of living here is astronomical - a dinky 1,000 sq ft 2 bdrm in Hollywood is $2,000. That same dinky apartment in West L.A. is $3,000 and take that apartment into Beverly Hills,...you'll have to sacrifice a child just for the security deposit (but at least you get a top-notch police & fire dept in Beverly Hills). Here in L.A., crime isn't like Chicago but with an average LAPD response time of 7+ minutes for a major emergency call, you'll bleed out if there isn't a good samaritan near by to help you. And the court system is very lenient to 1st and 2nd time offenders. Bottom line - other than the weather, there isn't a great quality of life here.

Here in New Yorkenstein victims of domestic violence lose their 2A rights. For example if someone breaks into your home and you defend yourself or your attacked in the street the police take your firearms and call it a "cool down period." This "cool down period" can be any amount of time. I have heard of some people waiting 2 or more years to get them back. So during all this time the attacker can come back with a gang and weapons while the victim sits in their house helpless. I effing hate this state.

California didn't just get strict with firearms, they also did a number on truck drivers. I ended up selling my extremely reliable and well maintained 2003 Freightliner Columbia because California would no longer allow older emissions trucks to operate in their state. I could still run the rest of the US but most of the freight I hauled went to or thru California. Would have cost me way too much to retrofit my truck to please their emissions regulations only to make my truck less reliable and more expensive to repair/maintain. And there was no way I would buy a newer truck as I would then have to pay someone to perform the repairs on the new overly complicated drivetrain where I could work on my '03 with its 12.7L Detroit 60-Series myself. How can a state close their roadways to certain year vehicles yet take my federal tax money to work on said roadways? California is a beautiful state and I will continue to visit every few years but their rules are ridiculous...

Los Angeles county you cannot have less than lethal shotgun ammo, like bean bags and rubber buckshot. It is a felony there. San Bernardino County you can have the less then lethal ammo if you wish.

Exactly. These criminals that tote around their illegal stolen firearms that probably have a few bodies on them already simply get caught, arrested, tossed into the jail and they bail RIGHT out. And when they bail out, they call up one of their homies and get another "gat", and proceed to do the same bullshit over again.... Where as with a law abiding citizen, if they are caught with a firearm they purchased LEGALLY, and legally owned, then they are arrested, become felons, their whole life is ruined because they live within the rule of law and abide by it, and when they get out of jail, they are fucked, as they no longer have any of their guns, they'll probably be fired from their job for being a felon and now their life is pretty much over and doomed to be shit because they don't lack morals and wont sink so low as to become common criminals.

Honest question here. If similar gun laws went into effect in Georgia, what steps would you guys personally take to try and reverse them? What would you suggest all of us in other states do? I know writing and calling representatives is a good place to start, but we need a smarter, more organized, larger plan in place IMO. One idea I can think of is what Barret, and now Falcor Defense have done, which is to refuse to sell their products to any government agencies, LE ext. to states/areas that have these type of laws. If every gun company did this I think that would send a pretty potent message. That would be a good starting point IMO. Also, I think it would be worthwhile if you could personally try to convince gun companies to do this with your "voice" Eric. I know it's a tall order, but we need people like you to take the initiative and fight back in a civil way before this gets potentially violent. No one wants this to become violent. We all want this to be settled diplomatically.

Hi Ian, when a state like California enacts a new law/s as they have done in this instance- the only way to reverse those laws is to do as you said. Write your representatives, volunteer with a campaign that supports your views and most importantly, donate to organizations like the NRA, GOA and others like them. As it stands in California, only these types of organizations will have the funds and ability to fight these overreaching laws in the courts. Now the challenge is even greater in states like California as they have very liberal appeals court judges that will uphold these new laws. That is why it is so important that we as Americans can not let HRC become president. She will appoint new federal judges and above all, she will appoint new Supreme Court Justices that will eventually repeal the 2nd amendment through new laws at the federal level that will never be overturned by the SCOTUS. You saw this play out with the gun laws that the SCOTUS did NOT choose to hear in regards to the NY and NJ laws.

Start reloading too. As far as I know, reloading components won't be restricted, and even if it is, it's a lot easier to smuggle primers and powder and a few cases and make your own bullets than it is to bring over bulky preassembled factory ammo.

The best way to know if a law is stupid is if it can easily be broken and nobody could ever know you did it. It is the same in the UK. We have a capacity maximum on the ammunition we can hold or buy at one time, but the dealer doesn't know how much you currently have left, so essentially anyone could just stockpile it over time and you could just say you shot it all. If that is the case why bother with the capacity limit to begin with? It is the same with all these other bogus laws trying to be pushed. No point banning magazines higher than 10 rounds if you can just go into a different state and buy loads and come back and nobody will know. So what is the point? It's not going to get rid of them all by banning the sale, and they sure as hell aren't going to refund everyone their purchases.

I see your point, but the law is in place so that should it ever be discovered that you have more ammunition than is permitted they have the power to confiscate any excess. If the law is in place, it's up to you to decide whether or not to break it. You may never get caught, but if you do, legislation is in place to enforce a punishment. It's the same for paracetamol, no single store can sell you more than 18 tablets, but you can just go to the 3 other stores down the street and buy 18 pills from each one and commit suicide via overdose. But none of the stores bear any responsibility for your overdose. You have circumvented the laws in order to commit your suicide, so the entire blame lies with you and nobody else.

The point is the punish people who have no intent to harm anyone else except for defense so that they can't legally have this stuff anymore because they want to get rid of guns while not grasping that the criminals already are getting & possessing them illegally and no legislation they're going to pass will stop the criminals. Hell, with the more than 10 round magazines thing, my handgun comes with a 14 round magazine by default. That is the standard & what the designers thought was appropriate for the size of the gun. By California logic, my gun is illegal & even if there's a 10 round magazine for it, I'd have to pay the $30+(more like $50+ for my gun) for a compliant magazine, not that I could legally carry it there anyway

In Germany it's similarly idiotic: You are not allowed to shoot from magazines higher than 10 rounds but the sale or possession of higher capacity mags is not illegal... The law is completely pointless

As a Pro 2A Californian from Sacramento, I'm just plain sad. It's been truly amazing witnessing the rights our forefathers penned to protect us from what they themselves bled and died for, being stripped away by the same government established to protect and enforce those "inalienable" rights. True story. My dad got in an argument with my sister, who was about 25 at the time. I don't remember exactly what it was over, but she was throwing stuff, and it got a bit physical. Anyway, out of spite, she went to the ER, even though there was nothing wrong with her and the ER called the police. My dad was arrested and convicted of misdemeanor domestic violence and is never allowed to buy a gun again. He's not a threat to anyone, my sister still lives in his house to this day. It happens. People are screwed over by law.

Citizens of California move to Arizona, we need a concentration of like minded patriots to survive. If Hillary gets elected several states may need to secede from the union, but a flood of patriots will help, we will need to fill up the patriot states with people who will fight for the Bill of Rights, California has too many liberal mush heads, get out of there and help Arizona fight with like minded people. Get out of Connecticut, New York and the rest, move to Georgia, Tennessee, South Carolina and stand with like minded patriots, we need numbers to survive.

I'm a native Texan, and I reside in Texas, but I lived in California for almost a quarter century. All of my formative adult life, in fact. I spent 9 years in Bakersfield, which is within the San Joaquin Valley, the large central valley in CA that runs from the mountain range north of LA all the way past Sacramento. The Valley is ranged by the Coastal ranges to the west and the Sierra Nevadas to the east. The central valley is home to folks who are, for the most part, down to earth, hard-working people. The majority work in the agriculture and oil businesses. And most of the ones I knew when I lived in Bakersfield where very conservative and were almost all gun owners. So when you talk about busting the state up, really it would have to be busted up into four separate states -- the coast where all the granola idiots live (granola = fruits, nuts, and flakes), the central valley, the high desert east of the Sierras (also a group of very conservative, self-reliant folks), and northern California. These four different regions are completely different from each other. The only way the folks in these other three regions can have their voices heard is to institute this sort of division. There are way too many granola people living along the CA coast such that their population overshadows the rest of the state -- and these other people can't be seen because of the blinding glare that spews forth from the coast. It's too bad, really. California is a beautiful state, but it's being dragged over the brink because of the leftist idiots who are governing it. Maybe when the Big One finally hits, all the coast will drop into the Pacific Ocean and this will take care of the problem.

CA firearms instructor here. Thanks for recognizing that there are lots of pro gun folks out here. We are definitely on the front lines. I have family in Atlanta and St. Simons Island and I've considered relocating to Atlanta at times. Thanks for covering our gunpocalypse. It's pretty bad out here but we'll be fighting all of this in court. The ammunition law is particularly horrible. Say for example I go out of state for training and have ammunition I legally purchased left over. I can't legally ship it back to my home or even drive it back. And the punishment for violating this is pretty severe.

The law about the mags that hold more then 10 cartridges basically if you own 30 round mags that you've owned for however long you have to turn them into your local sheriff station and or sell them somewhere outside the state

I would gladly live in California. Why? Because I live in England! Every gun is licensed and tracked and shooting allowed only at Government approved ranges. Hand guns (other than C&B) are banned. Semi auto rifles restricted to 22lr only. Oddly, mag capacity is unlimited. I reload but the amount of ammo per gun is on my license. All guns must be kept unloaded and in a safe or approved gun cabinet AND should you shoot someone in obvious self defense, you are in big shit with the law. If Hilary gets in, be thankful you have a strong NRA otherwise you could end up like the UK. Our NRA in the UK is a toothless lion. Owning a firearm in the UK is a privilege not a right. You guys are so fortune to have the 2nd Amendment.

All this fighting about gun ownership is getting out of hand. We have the Democrat states telling us lies about how our freedoms are the causes of all woe's in this country. And we have the solid red-states like Arizona, and Texas (where I'm living now) promoting the idea that if you don't have enough ordinance to level an entire city-bloc, you are not prepared for anything. I love the 2nd amendment. If it were up to me- I would have the NFA repealed, and the 1986 clause of the FOPA not allowing new machine guns to be manufactured removed as well. I wish we could go back to the time when you could bring your favorite rifle to high school and go hunt with your math teacher. I wish we could all once again, recognize that firearms are tools. A time in witch I never was a part of because I'm young.

I don't think Eric would say that... and I do think that some young dumb people get some serious consequences for potentially 'innocent' actions. A friend of mine was charged with domestic violence when he had an argument with his girlfriend on the front porch of her cop dad's house. Was he dumb? yes. Were they screaming at each other? yes. Was there any physical violence? no. True Domestic Violence is a great indicator for violent people... But it is charged often for wider circumstances. I don't think we should charge people less often, but the gun law shouldn't blanket cover all people convicted of it, too subjective. IMO.

in California you can buy a long rifle every ten days. You can buy another rifle as you pick up the last one. A handgun can be purchased every 30 days plus one minute. A long rifle and a handgun can be purchased at the same time. Same rules still apply. In one month you can purchase a rifle, shotgun, and a pistol. So basically you can have all three in 20 days in California.

agree 100%. About a year ago I got charged with a simple domestic... a year and thousands of dollars later im only a month away from getting my 2a back by using a deferred judgement. I have a huge list of guns to buy right after my papers are signed!
