Good video comparison. I have never owned a Ruger 77/22 so I can't share any personal experience. But, I can tell you this; I have been around the shooting world for about 30 years. About twenty-some years ago, I was shooting silhouette and there was a group that would come to the range after we were done. They all had bolt action rifles, scoped, bi-pods, and what I call "hot rodded" for multiple ranges; short range to long range. I noticed that a couple of my friends had changed from the Ruger to CZ. They told me that the CZ right off the shelf was giving them the performance they wanted and the Ruger needed gunsmithing after purchase to get the performance. So basically, by the time they were done with the upgrades and gunsmithing on the Ruger they were spending twice as much as the CZ. So that ended my desire to purchase the Ruger 77/22. I do have two CZ's and love them. Now, I know this is about the Tikka T1X and I do own one. It is my ground squirrel hunting rifle and I love it as much as my CZ's. It still wears the off-the-shelf stock, has a DIP scope rail, Vortex rings, and Burris 4.5-14x42 scope. It is a tack driver.

I have a 77/22 and I did the VQ sear and spring, what a vast improvement. My T1X is in 17hmr and shoots the best groups at 50 yards I have ever done.

It was a Rifle Basics drop-in unit got it from South Yorkshire Shooting Supplies and I put another in my Ruger M77/17 All-Weather, which is a 1/2 inches still.

I liked the Tikka when I was looking for a new rimfire. I baulked at the price of buying plastic to extend the lop. So opted for a 457 at nearly £200 cheaper. Glad I did tbh.

Entry level 457s stand up well price-wise, but some models are approaching M77/22 price tags. I tested one in Shooting Sports when they first came out and was impressed.

I have the T1x and enjoy it a lot, this one's my go to rifle if accuracy is 'asked' for. Thanks for this Pete, it is a pity though, that Ruger M77-22 LR is no longer available. Oh well!

Yes, the old 77/22 is a classy gun, but horribly over-priced for what it was and in todays market, it's no wonder Ruger push the American Rimfire instead. I feel they will eventually bin the whole M77 rimfire range, as the price and also smaller calibre choice makes it less attractive.

@@GunMartTV I have often wondered what is the 'real' difference between the Ruger M77-22 and American Rimfire. I have the Ruger American Rimfire and it's not a 'great rifle' but it is OK...... I forgot to add,.. " in my opinion and experience with the American "
@GunMartTV Жыл бұрын
@@regsparkes6507 The American, is very much a basic design, and not that bad, but the 77/22 is built like a centre fire, you could say over-engineered. I think it was a simple matter of economy, that the 77 could not match. It will be interesting to see if the American lasts as long as my 77/22 has, as it's showing no sign of wearing out.

@@GunMartTV Good points Pete, so as range usage and time rolls along, we shall see.

I nearly went the tikka route in 2020 but went with a pair of new CZ 455 varmints if I’d of waited I could of got the more up to date 457 varmint I’ve heard the tikka can be a bit picky hence the reason I went with what I new at the time Lithgow was the other option but 3x the price of the CZ

Thanks, I've just done a video on the new Winchester 42-grain MAX, sub-sonic ammo. It's been re-packaged and a tiny bit different in its construction.

It’d be interesting to see the Tikka vs a CZ452

That mod on your Ruger looks like the rare sak2
@GunMartTV Жыл бұрын
Yes it is, I've still got my original SAK, which I bought for my 17HMR Ruger M77/17 All-Weather, I prefer the m2 as it's strippable.
