all these references in this animated short is STUNNING, Melina is giving d20 fans what they WANT - shrimp party from sophomore year - the prize plushies in the stand (boggy the froggy, kugrash, peppermint preston, even dmitri from coffin run, wow!) - the mice and murder flyer on the wall next to the plushies!! - all the magical item prizes the bad kids stole from the arcade back in fantasy high, along with Riz's briefcase of holding - the flyer for Plug's Butt Ugly Stuff Hut!!!!! - the Loose Duke poster, oh my god - BASRAR'S SODA FOUNTAIN HE'S EXPANDED HIS BUSINESS OUT TO SPACEEEEE - and of course, the unsleeping city movie poster. Classic

EDIT: Give 0:20 a look, it says BIRTHPLACE OF MYTH in numerical code EDIT 2: You can run the code at 1:05 through a Vigenere cipher (1:07) with the key PORTLAND to continue down the rabbit hole. Up to you to do the rest!

How does Fey & Flowers stack up to some of the other Dimension 20 shows? My favorite is Unsleeping City followed closely by Starstruck.

@@JamesSmith-rb5lv It's hilarious, Lou and Emily play off each other so well, and the new players all meld in perfectly. Plus Brennan is a player which is always fun to watch.

@@JamesSmith-rb5lv So far it's pretty good. Lou and Emily are playing connected characters, and it's brilliant. The newer players have been pretty good. One of the characters is SUPER awkward, but in an endearing and funny way. Brennan is hilarious as always. Just be aware that it's a very social and role play heavy season, apparently. I'm not sure how much, if any, traditional combat there will be. The basic concept is Jane Austen in the Fey Wild.

Honestly seeing this animated really makes me realize that one of the best moments in this bit is the subtle few seconds of silence while the transaction processes, leaving a bit of tension in the air as there’s a potential for this all to go wrong at the VERY last second, only for it to all go rushing out on the word “approved”.

Actually, Starstruck was originally a comedic sci-fi play, so the comics are technically adaptations too! I saw it live at a local community theatre and it was extremely well written and funny.

Okay, so here's something no one's mentioned yet. I think there's some sort of Gravity Falls-style code shenanigans going on in the background here. The poster in the background at 1:10 of the guy eating has Morse Code at the top. It translates to VIGENERE, which is a type of cypher. I don't know anything about cryptograms, so someone smarter than me will have to work this out, though in a quick googling, I do see that a thing associated with Vignere Cyphers is a Polybius Square, and there's an prominent Polbius machine in the background (which is a whole other reference alltogether). I haven't spotted a keyword, or at least not that I realize. Maybe it's Polybius? But then, what's encoded? Other things: - I assume all the alien text can probably be translated, probably using the Unsleeping City poster at the end as a partial key. Maybe one of the alienese posters is what's encoded with the Vignere? - The poster that starts on the right and moves left starting at 1:05 has some sort of code that says IWERFRY.FDA 5Y3QP7CA. There's numbers and a period in here, so I have no idea what to do with this, though the first word looks like it could be an encrypted file name maybe? (because of the period and three letters at the end could be a file extension?) The second word has numbers so maybe it's some sort of encrypted hexadecimal code? Or is this related to a Polybius Square? - The prices on the concession stand at 0:20 are weird. None of them seem to be standard pricing format, and most look like they could be dates. The only two that aren't are also the only one that's repeated: 2.9.18, 20.8, 16.12.1, 3.5.15, 6.13.25, 20.8. -- EDIT TO ADD: for the ones that could be dates, I think they really might be. I found too big a coincidence for it not to be intentional. A couple of them would require the numbers to be shuffled around to work obviously, seeing as how there's no 16th month and we're not in 2025 yet. 2.9.18 could be 2/9/18 OR 9/2/18, 3.5.15 could be 3/5/15 or 5/3/15, and 16.12.1 could be 1/12/16 or 12/1/16 OR 1/16/12. The only with one possbility is 6/25/13. And exactly 20 months and 8 days (the 20.8) after that date is 3/5/15. There's no way this relationship is accidental. I haven't figured out any other relations yet, though. -- EDIT TO ADD AGAIN: Nope. Someone figured out it was just a simple number substitution that says "Birthplace of Myth". That's much simpler and less insane than my date thing. Guess the 10 months 8 days thing really was just a crazy coincidence. - Outside the gate at the end there's a poster with a squirrel with a code beneath it that says "kpk fvb tpzz pa?". This is a Caesar +7 Cypher that translates to "Did you miss it?" Miss what, I'm not sure yet. So yeah. There's a lot here that I'm not smart or patient enough to solve.

it must be so cool to be the artists who initially made starstruck decades ago and see now a completely new generation reimagining their world in new mediums and styles like this. like, imagine the story you're writing today, someone in 2050 is just doing a fan animation of an adaptation of it??? that's incredible

I just reached this episode in Starstruck, and so far I think it's my favorite season of Dimension 20, I've loved every one I've seen but something about this season is just really doing it for me. How expansive the universe is, how they've been slowly upgrading the ship and stuff over time, the new ways that the different spells and things feel with the coat of Sci-Fi paint, I love it

I disagree, all background sound cuts out and all movement stops for a beat before "approved" in this animation, I briefly thought the video had frozen. The joke is still there
