There’s no question the M1 Garand is still cherished by collectors and shooting enthusiasts alike. But is it still relevant today? How well has it stood the test of time? Let’s take a closer look

I saw an interview with a ww2 veteran and he was asked about the weight. He looked at the interviewer like he was an idiot and said, I was 19 and never even thought about it.

I just bought one! My local gun shop had it for weeks. I wasn’t even looking to buy anything but the instant I saw it, I had to have it. Bought it without even thinking! The serial number place it between February to November 1944, produced by Springfield Armory. Of course, the furniture, various parts like the barrel, op rod and risers was replaced and rearmored more than once throughout the past 80 years but damn it! Can’t wait! Once I get my en block in, I’m gonna do the iconic “pinnnnnnggggg”!

My favorite firearm in my collection is my CMP field grade M1 Garand from Aug 1944; truly the greatest battle implement ever devised.

Someone should make reproductions so we can keep the M1 alive and at a reasonable price. The CMP rifles will dry up eventually.

Any reproduction would easily end up being 3k plus

Love you guys; I bought my first gun (TISAS 1911A1) from you. My current goal is to get my concealed carry license so I can buy one of these beauties from the CMP. Never let the Garand die.

IT IS THE GREASTS OF ALL TIME THE BERETTA E MODEL WHICH SHOULD STILL BE IN USE IN OUR MLITARY IS 2NR GREATEST

I’ve killed three deer with mine. It could still play a very limited military role if needed ( I said could not should). The weapon is just pure quality in every part and every way. I will die before I give mine up.

Or get extremely lucky! Was wanting one for ages now, but prices on Gunbroker was just like WTF?!? Then lol and behold, was at my local gun store, wasn’t even looking to buy anything but they had a Garand sitting there for three weeks now for $1,700! Bought it without even thinking! Brought it home, based on its serial number, it’s a Springfield Armory one built between February to November 1944! So yeah, boy did I got lucky! Of course, through its 80 years history, its furniture, op rod, riser etc got replaced, refurbished or refitted, probably multiple times, hence why it’s in such great condition! Immediately went online, bought it a sling, two en blocks, and 20 rds of Garand 30-06, can’t wait to insert the en block in for that iconic “pinnnng”

800 rounds through a Garand is a bit abusive? Don't tell my M1 that.
@markusaralius3 ай бұрын
I think he was talking about being abusive to himself and his shoulder rather than the weapon. 🙂

Why choose the 1940's Garrand for the competition instead of the M1A1 target rifle?
@davidbell16197 ай бұрын
Why not?
@sealove79able7 ай бұрын
Nothing in particular just the M1A1 might be more suitable imho.@@davidbell1619
