The first time I heard Marylin Manson was almost by accident, me and a friend when we were fourteen we were playing basketball in a park when we both saw the Mechanical Animals album on the floor, so we both took turns each one week the album to listen to in our houses, it was one of the best times of my life in the 90s.

Two thoughts: First, I'm glad that record companies are pretty much dead now. They were mostly money grubbing assholes, not artists or good people. Second, Love should've fired her management team. The artist is always the boss, managers work for THEM, not the other way around.
@rofyle
@rofyle 2 жыл бұрын
Lol. What rock are you hiding under? Did you not read Courtney's open letter to the public? Record companies are more powerful and wealthy than ever before. The free advertising and ad revenue generated by KZfaq reaction channels net them a small fortune, and digital copyrights and downloads mean they only have to pay the artists a literal few fractions of a cent for each download while they pocket the rest. The artist who ever successfully navigated the minefield was Prince, and he had to constantly fight to keep his music off KZfaq.

I actually attended the Tour after she left the Tour. In the Houston Concert of that year, I remember Monster Magnet and Marylin Manson. I wasn’t a fan of Marylin Manson but I ended up going because a friend ended up enticing me with a free Ticket. I don’t remember Marylin Manson saying anything about Hole or Courtney but the Monster Magnet singer did make fun of her. I’m not remembering if this 100% word for word. But Dave Wyndorf Monster Magnet went on a small rant. He said Courtney left the Tour because of all the negativity going on during the Tour. So of course the audience thought that was funny and laughed along. Towards the end of the rant Dave Wyndorf before bursting into Spank Lord M%$#%@er....”Do I look like a negative person to you???” and that was it. Fun Tour I wasn’t a Marylin Manson fan, I didn’t even know Hole was part of the Tour. My friend bribed me with a free ticket to the show so I accepted. But I did have fun and Marylin still played some of the hits like “Beautiful People”, Sweet Dreams and others. I didn’t like how he tore up some scriptures (probably the Bible and Book of Mormon) on stage and threw them at the crowd. I do remember the riggers over the stage watching the audience participation, it was insane especially during “Anti-Christ Superstars’ Repent”.

i was there too because my friend offered me a free ticket! I wanted to see Hole but found out she wasn’t going to perform:/ It was a great theatrical show though. I was close to the stage but a group of people were passing the joint around and i got too high. So my friend had to pull me off to the side and watch it by the barricades lol! Kinda glad that we did because he ends up spitting at the crowd during the performance.

I was at the Vancouver show of this tour. I think citing different fan bases as a reason this tour didn't work is a bit if a reach, I knew a lot of people who were fans of both bands. Even though it was promoted as a co-headlining tour Hole playing first made it just seem like they were the openers, that's what I thought anyway.

They did the Big Day Out together at the beginning of 99. Manson was booed off stage in Perth because surfer boys couldn’t handle an androgynous man in a stocking body suit! Isn't it funny how everyone seems to have the same things to say about Courtney? She was being called toxic back in the 90s, and that seems to have stuck. Everyone she encounters seems to end up falling out with her and saying exactly the same things. You'd have to conclude that she's the common denominator in all these dramas.

I was in High School in the 1990’s and Manson’s first album, “Portrait of an American Family” was all the angst, anger, rebelliousness, and emotions I felt as 14-year-old. It also called out a lot of America’s hypocrisies. Then “Antichrist Superstar” came put and I loved that at the time because its pseudo-Satanic imagery just shocked people. (When I later became a Born-Again Christian I stopped listening to Manson). I loved the sounds on both those albums. Then “Mechanical Animals” came out and while it does have some catchy songs, I really didn’t like the direction Manson went on that album and afterwards. Until “Eat Me, Drink Me”.

I was at the Los Angeles show where Manson got hurt. I liked both bands but was there for Manson. I had long hair at the time and was all goth’ed up, died black and red hair, combat boots, I felt fucking powerful and was so excited as this was the first time I was going to see Manson in concert. Hole put on such an amazing set, lots of great stage effects and the production value was a lot higher than I would have expected, which I assumed was her trying to upstage Manson. When Manson’s set began, he came out on this cross made of TVs, and on their 3rd song he was walking around on these goofy stilts, and I swear to god it looked like he took a dive, it looked like such bullshit and I swear he did it just to upstage Courtney. He was over on the right part of the stage, and he just kind of fell but it looked weak. Shit went dark for a while, the lights came on and we were all confused because it didn’t look like he had gotten hurt. We were so pissed, the 2 other songs he put on were amazing but at least Hole and Monster Magnet were awesome.

I saw them on that tour at the University of New Hampshire, Manson got hit by a bottle and stopped the show saying he wasn't gonna continue until we beat the shit out of him.

both of these artists (and I use that term loosely) were a curiosity and not substantial, that's why they didn't sell tickets... Take a band like "Cure" they have their core dedicated fans but they also have the radio listeners too and that is who buys most of the tickets

Manson has done some shitty things over the years, but I have respect for the guy. He doesn't take shit from anybody. For most of his career, he basically forced the hypocrites to look in the mirror, and none of them liked what they saw.

I always thought that was a weird bill. Mechanical animals took a little time for me to get into but it is a great rock album. I think a lot of the disappointment came from the fact that people were expecting antichrist 2 and he went the opposite direction.

Both great bands but everyone’s brain was completely fried from hard drug use. Even if Courtney was sober as she claimed, she was a total disaster of a human for years before this. Being sober didn’t magically make her level headed. Again I love both bands and they’re both equally wrong. That 90s rock scene was massively into substance abuse so it’s no surprise everything went to shit. They’re all to blame.

I was too young to be a Manson fan in the 90s/early 2000s, but got to see him twice in 2018 and 2019, one of them being the infamous New York show that got cancelled halfway through because he tried to climb a stage prop and it fell over on him. The other time was the joint tour with Rob Zombie and I was struck both times by how.....bored and dispassionate he seemed? It was so disappointing after hearing so much about how great he was live. The production value was very poor, too. Rob Zombie is OLDER than Manson and has toured just as long and he still managed to give his entire heart and soul to putting on a good show. Manson seems worn out and washed up, and it's a shame.

Only thing to regret is ticket costs and lost time musical with Manson, this l am a dark sinister type of guy that hangs out with Satan and his demons, getting loaded every nite after work doing bad evil stuff and wrecking the joint maybe times with a zombie called Robert. One of them sleeps with light on. Both are phony and uncool trying to frighten and persuade the public to believe in them. A cool image and style is key to sustain a strong long success for a band. But off stage and they DO carry on like a bunch of10-year-olds competing in a beauty contest and crys when the bathwater goes cold. Some friends who really got into him big time didn't say much about the shows or listen any songs for years. Maybe you are a fan of Tool, and The Melvins, so very cool because their music is way better and heavier than 'The movie Beetlejuice ' an on-stage musical.show. These bands don't need to pretend or think of dumb shit because they have Charisma, no person can buy or demand this, similar for respect.

I mean the guy is in his 50s, if he was a woman “she” wouldn’t be making records anymore and wouldn’t have been relevant anymore. poor Taylor Swift was scared to reach 30 when MM was in his 40s still going strong/steady

LOL common is anyone going to believe that a 1998 mason needed help to sell out arenas? What a joke. Manson in 1998 was one of the most biggest alt rock stars at that time. This was ether a record labels shitty way to help Love or a publicity stun for both of them.
