Nice demo. It could get warmer if you insulate the backside with styrofoam and a sheet of Radiator foil (basically aluminium foil). All the heat will go out front, way more effecctive. 60-70 degrees is no problem.

I'd like to know what would happen if that thing were hooked up to 12V DC.

If you connect it with 12v it will not work because the resistance it too high for 12v. At 12 volt it will only use .07Watts of power and not heat up at all.

your temperature and my temperature could be different. Check your resistance.
