This is still a sad, unfortunate situation. Watching the interviews Guru and Solar had together, it's completely obvious Solar was attaching himself to Guru's legacy to attempt to establish relevance. Where Guru would say "we" regarding the achievements and happenings they were having in the industry Solar would say "I". Very telling. Solar jumped at the chance to align with Guru because he would have never received the attention he wanted by his own merit. I hope the Elam family finds peace regarding the multiple mishandlings of Guru's affairs. RIP Guru.

But he also talked a lot about respect, work, ethics, friendship and improving the condition of Black people. As an Austrian schoolboy in 1994 it was fairly hard to get my hands on Jazzmatazz and Gang Starr stuff here but I managed it (because it was worth it). Loved and still love your uncles music because he guided me to Hip-Hop and his music is still a "must-have-folder" on my MP3 player. Never stopped listening to it. R.I.P. I was shocked when I heard of his passing. I hadn’t stayed up on current hip-hop when he passed, but was a fan of everything I’d heard from Guru/Gang Starr. The last work I’d heard from him was a hip-hop/techno fusion project he did with Ferry Corsten. The BS Solar pulled in the family was unforgivable. Hell burns hot for people who pull crap like that.

If that was my family member, and some random tells me I can't come to the hospital - I'd fly there and knock him the F out after assessing the situation. GTFO of here telling me what I can and can't do with my family!

Solar's Production was always wack. I always felt like his talent was wasted when he spent time with Solar, aside from the Jazzmatazz Projects he appeared on. Listening to Guru interviews gives me chills, he is the GOAT. Wish I was old enough to see him in concert before his passing, RIP...
