My grandmother used to play this circa 1910. I have the sheet music framed on my wall with my great grandmother's signature on it.

Was this sheet music donated anywhere? I learned about this piece today by finding one such frame, and a woman's signature at the top.

Such a sweet composition starts light, then the realization of the emotions followed by the passionate expression of the emotions and back to being light and relieved! Beautiful landscape of a lover’s journey!

such a romantic song..

indeed, if you play this with love, it's enough to make you cry. I've learnt this piece, it's sooo beautiful, even with just robotic technique, but once you add an interpretation full of love, my my it's so romantic. I play this piece for someone who i know i stand no chance with, but yet i still put all the emotion in the piece. so you're statement is indeed true ;)

Hoagy Carmichael plays a clip of this melody in To Have and Have Not (1944) when he sees someone shot in the bar around 25 minutes into that movie. Like a reference to death or a funeral. He plays it in D major instead of F major.
