An inflamed gut can make you sick because the majority of your immune system lives there.
Learn how to optimize your immune system and microbiome while reducing inflammation in your gut with Dr. Robynne Chutkan. The gastroenterologist shares her anti-inflammatory tips when she joins “The Weight Loss Champion” Chuck Carroll on The Exam Room Podcast.
Dr. Chutkan also details the dramatic microbiome shift that can occur during weight loss and the foods you should be eating to reduce inflammation.

Thank you Chuck for bringing us this extraordinary physician and for her making so clear the link between diet, health and the immune system. It seems so simple and logical, and yet so many are oblivious to viewing what you put into your body as determinative of how your body functions. For the past 30 years I followed a Mediterranean diet, with no red meat, but recently eliminated poultry, dairy and farmed fish upon the advice of an cardiologist whom I met by chance, as part of an annual wellness visit sponsored by my health plan. He suggested I watch the video "What the Health" and read anything by Dr. Joel Furhman. Life changing. Now I watch vegan cooking videos on KZfaq and make delicious wholesome meals for my family. Pair a plant based diet with a regular exercise program. It's your best bet for a healthy immune system and for keeping the bad genes from expressing themselves, to use Dr. Chutkan's words.

Hi Chuck, I'd be very interested in finding out more about which plant foods lead to fewer calories being absorbed in the gut, or passing through the gut more quickly, so leading to fewer calorie absorption, as mentioned by Dr Robynne. I hope you can feature this in a future presentation and yes, please can we have Dr Robynne back as I'd love to hear about her new book. Thank you so much.

Lulu, get over this modern fixation with worrying about the calories and think rather about nutrient density and fibre. (And as the doctor said here, your gut microbes will determine how many calories you are picking up from you food.) The more plants (NOT highly processed) you eat the better your body will adjust its weight to your optimum. I highly recommend going through Chef AJ ‘s channel here on KZfaq to see all about eating plants, preparing meals, nutrient density and weight management. She is very practical and an excellent resource.

I love the 30 a week idea. We've already got a spreadsheet on the fridge with foods grouped by type and color as a reminder. Crossing off as many as we can is going to be fun and delicious. I know genetics has a lot to do with it but I'm stuck by how absolutely gorgeous she is. She's been practicing for 31 years and she barely looks 35. Clean living has to account for at least some of that.

Often genetics is really the style & types of foods that a family has become accustomed to eating making it their family culture & part of their heritage.in effect family members then get the same conditions & ailments making it seem hereditary.also add to that where people live,(eg near a factory & exposure to pollution& toxins,all have an effect on health.)

F. prausnitzii strains can also utilize N-acetylglucosamine (Lopez-Siles et al., 2012), a constituent of the glycoproteins found in gut mucosa (Salvatore et al., 2000). Interestingly, it has been reported that treatment with this compound may improve Crohn’s disease (CD) as it will serve as a healing factor in inflamed, damaged soft tissues of the gut

@annwilliams6438
@annwilliams6438 2 жыл бұрын
Wendy, with those symptoms you are almost surely allergic/highly intolerant to something you are eating. More than likely gluten. I know it is difficult when already limiting to plants, but kick out the wheat, barley and hidden gluten (watch those labels on your food), and even possibly OATS. Yes, oats. So many plant only folks will give three hundred ways to eat oats for breakfast… BUT if you have coeliac problems oats can be a huge problem. (Even the ‘gluten-free’, ‘stone ground’ etc). If you feel tired an hour after after a breakfast of oats, or you get bloating within a day, and just cannot get rid of the weight longer term - you probably have coeliac disease (forget the expensive testing), just stay away from oats. It is worth a try.

Then when you listen to The Carnivores, they say they feel better when they switched to all meat , no bloating, loss of weight, energy, muscles.
