For anyone who doesn't understand what's going on here: He was trying to do a burnout by feathering the clutch (not fully releasing it) and/or giving it a combination of too much gas and too much brake at the same time. This makes it so the clutch has a much more difficult time getting the tires to spin, and instead causes the clutch itself to rub against the flywheel. Clutch material is extremely abrasive, which causes lots of friction, and thus lots of heat. By the time he hit red line it didn't matter if his clutch was fully released, because the clutch was hot enough that the friction was way too low to properly engage it to the flywheel. Rather it just spun and spun until it overheated, cracked, and shattered causing it to essentially explode. Those chunks of metal laying on the pavement are pieces of the clutch.

Transmission was fine. Tires started spinning AFTER the explotion. Engine still sounds good after the deal. I suspect the clutch blew apart, replace it and be happy. Well probably the bellhousing took a beating to let those glowing red parts out.
