Guy Martin is returning to road racing in 2017 after signing up to partner 23-times TT winner John McGuinness in the Honda Racing squad.
The 35-year-old decided not to compete on the roads in 2016 and raced in the gruelling 2745-mile Tour Divide mountain bike race instead. Having finished in 2nd place at the Isle of Man TT races on no less than 7 occasions, Guy will be returning to the iconic mountain course this year to set the record straight aboard Honda’s all-new CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2.
Here's a montage of highlights from Guy's Honda years at the TT, where he rode Honda machinery from 2005 up to 2010.

I still find it unbelievable Guy never stood on the top step of the podium. He was so fast but it just seemed like it was never meant to be. Glad hes still with us, top bloke.

Senior TT 2011 should've been his, but he choked in the last lap over the mountain. John McGuinness says he doesn't understand how he won that race.

I don’t hate the guy. He does put out videos regularly calling himself and his laps Legendary. Far from it. There are guys that have won 4-5 TT victories that are practically unheard of. Martin is famous due to coverage and a pile of personal injuries. When I saw them at the Northwest 200 I immediately saw poetry in motion when looking at the likes of Hickman, Anstey, the Dunlop Brothers, and McGuinness. I couldn’t say the same for Guy.

@@mauser8515 what are you talking about, he’s placed 17 podiums, William Dunlop has only placed six. It was only seconds behind the leader in most of those races. Most Great riders never see a podium, let alone 17. And he wasn’t even a professional racer, he did this as a hobby. Imagine if he committed himself 100%, he probably be one of the best in the world

@@icepie4700 Probably stopped because it's dangerous a fk. People die almoast every year at this event, and Guy broke his back during Isle of man a few years back. There is videos of it on YT.

@@swedfilms i think the crash ypu refeering to is the Ulster TT not isle of man TT, Guy has explaied why he quit and he just didnt have the will to die for it anymore.

ice pie He said in an interview that racing stopped giving him the buzz he once got from it. He realized when he was racing he was thinking about fixing his next lorrey instead of the next curve up ahead. He also had his first child a few years ago 😊. He’s really down to earth & funny! He has a cool series I found on KZfaq called “The Boat That Guy Built” it’s worth a look if you fancy him.

I didnt know who Guy Martin was until last year. Then I saw an insane show about a complete maniac trying to beat the gravity racer speed record in a thing that had less protection than a toilet paper tube. Now I'm a huge fan of Guy. I really hope he gets a TT Title. He deserves it, he has an amazing outlook on life, he's humble and has a great work ethic, doesnt care about fame or riches or glory. I hope he finds another team with a better bike and wins it all in 18'. Good Luck Guy!

PLease please dont let guy win the fuckin sewing machine race (electric bikes mugen) i hope bruce wins it on the other mugen...not having guy count a eletric bike win as a tt win!! a superbike , stocker or a supersport win is what we want for guy and to go home in one piece..so he can come back again and again..

Fantastic news that Guy Martin rides the TT 2017.I notice a lot of folks comments about staying safe and all the rest of it. Well that is stating the obvious every rider knows that, but at the end of the day great racers race that is what they do. That is what makes them what they are . They accept the risk and get on with it as does a soldier, fireman, etc. So for me a big fan of this man and with a team behind him I'd say if they don't drill the character out of him and let him do his thing he's got a great chance.

Wow, very nice ! So this time, the responsibility for Guy is even greater with HRC. Well I wonder...why, Rider who have won 3° Manx GP in one week, (Dan Kneen ) for years I never find a official team ? and every year a struggle to find a good saddle. Having said that, I hope that Guy win a TT.

Yeah interesting point, there is a lot of talent out there. I would say this. Iv'e been a session musician most of my adult life multi instrumentalist , everything. I know the music world from commercial to Modern jazz inside out. I can do and have done the lot. It is the same in the music business talent alone will get you absolutely no where. You have to be different and bring something else to the table.

So bring something else to the table. I've been to the Isle of Man TT as a 'Normal' person i.e. not a racer. I still got the pegs down, two up on the mountain stage at 120 m.p.h. My point is, you either have it or you haven't. I earn my living as an electrician. Wise men know their limitations...

Look at the front Mudguard on the silver,red livery honda at the end of this,it's moving with the wind,is it carbon laminated with fibreglass resin? I think it must have been adding to a varied downforce front end.!

So many podiums over the years but a real shame he never took the big victory. Hopefully he will stay away from this place now (as he has said he would) and concentrate on his young family and TV career.
