This documentary is a little masterpiece. I think Jin struggled a lot with his new role as the oldest in the band. In his family he is the maknae and all of a sudden he had to fill the shoes of the oldest. As the oldest you have a lot of responsibilities and authority. And most of the time the vibe a group is having depends on how the oldest one is managing himself and the group. I think Jin took a long time to figure out what kind of hyung he wanted to be. Therefore he was quiet and insecure. Sometimes that's hard for the ppl around to deal with...especially when they expect a form of leadership. When I first got into BTS I thought of Jin as an outsider inside the group. I didn't like how they were always making fun of him and how quiet he took it. But with time he found his niche and grew into a confident hyung who is able to create a fun and relaxed atmosphere within the group. He is serious when he needs to be and can be the hyung when they need him to be. He is able to push them up the hill secretly without being arrogant or bossy. His personality is far from childish and I really admire his mindset

Seokjin became a big hit trainee initially, most probably because of his visuals. Korean entertainment companies though, are known for training their trainees in singing, dancing etc before debuting. The process is different to western stars who are debuting with what they already got. Also seokjin got into Konkuk University when he was a trainee. He majored in the Department of Film and Visual Arts and majored in Film and Acting and gained a Bachelor’s Degree for it. Knowing about the whole BTS universe and how important is to have good actors, among others, for that project, it leads me to believe that those skills of his also played their part in big hit's decision.

yes, it because of his looks. but you can see that seokjin doesnt want all love he received from Army is just for his looks, he worked sooo hard, he hides his pain, to prove that he is worth to be loved. we all know it is very hard to keep up with other members that already good (at least) with dancing, singing and even composing, we have to prove urself. my bias is seokjin, we have same birthday date. 4.12.1992. i can say that, i understand him. i cry everytime i see this kind of vid about him.

As far as I know, Seokjin auditioned to be an actor, he was not going to make an idol, but Bang PDnim decided later on what he became.

Someone else already mentioned this but I just want to add on to it. Jin is indeed the youngest in his own family but when he joined BTS he was suddenly the oldest with six younger brothers. Despite the added and sudden responsibility, he did and still does his part well as the big hyung of the group. HOWEVER! Usually the eldest is the one who leads the younger ones, but we all know Namioon is the leader of the group. If Jin actually did act like the "proper" eldest hyung, it would conflict with Namjoon's role. That's why it's actually really thoughtful of Jin when he doesn't act his age and acts more like a same-aged friend with the younger members. And I seriously love that little fact about him uwu. 💕

Regardless of his goofy, childish behavior on BTS Bombs, I truly think Jin is very mature. Have you seen him in interviews? He's very poised and handles himself well. I've seen him dodge personal questions like a politician. He doesn't get flustered or rude, he just either doesn't answer or starts talking about something else. Very admirable. He's good when he acts as an announcer during music shows also.

Jin is the eldest, but RM is the leader. In Korea, the eldest plays an important role and he has the power to rule everything and must take care of the younger ones. But Jin said he chooses to show his childlike side so that he will not over power RM.

Everytime I watch this I am always reminded by Suga and Jhope (I guess) they once heard someone singing then keep saying sorry at the same time then when they saw who it was it's Jin while sleeping that's when they realize that Jin really works hard than even in his sleep he practices and keep saying sorry for his mistakes. I cried because of this.😭😭😭

jin was discovered for his visual not only by bighit but by companies like SM too. he most likely went through the process in hopes of gaining an acting agency. bighit asks everyone to audition for everything even if they have no skill in particular area BUT he would not have gotten into BTS if he lacked skills (elimination processes). jins hard work is truly admirable and one of the most genuine hard working ppl i have ever witnessed. Bang PD been knowing as hit maker producer. So many artists that he choose to gave his songs become hit at that time. He can see people potential. Jin might not have excellent or extraordinary skills for singing n dancing at the beginning, but Bang PD saw potential in him, that why he picked Jin as candidate for BTS potential members among other bighit trainee candidates. It not just because of his visual. BTS is Bang PD last chance to make succesful group because his company face of bankruptcy. He will not gambling to picked BTS members without sure with their potential. He put all his trust on members that they can become big n success because he have confidence n faith with all boys talent n competent. Even BTS members didnt believe with themselves (even they are mocking at Bang PD when he said, BTS will become a daesang group when BTS are still rookies). But Bang PD believes with them n what they have inside of them.

Yeah, it’s Big Hit who told him to be quiet, I think Jin told us about it once but I don’t remember when. From my impression at the time, the quiet one in a boy group was very loved. He is usually the handsome one and the “coolest.” I think it was a trend in Asian boy groups in general, to have a quiet member in the group and he would be the most popular. But I don’t think it worked for Jin, so he decided to change and be more himself. He said that he was already like that but I think that he became even more cheerful bc of ARMY. As he showed more his personality, more people got interested and loved his personality so it might be why he is like this now. As he said in the video, a person can really change another person, like ARMY did to him. And indeed, he was scouted bc of his looks. His role was being the visual and the vocalist! In Kpop groups, there is always a visual (maybe it has changed since then tho). But tbh I don’t think it’s important for the members to have a role, especially now, they improved so much, they are all multi-talented! They all know how to dance (of course). The vocalists have their own strength and charm, so I don’t think that “main vocalist” and “lead vocalist” titles are that important now (even though Big Hit didn’t update the roles in BTS since debut), each voice is unique! The rappers are all amazing, no need to say who is better! And they’re all handsome. But actually, I heard from some K-ARMYs/K-Diamonds that Jin has the “perfect face” in South Korea. It must be why he is the visual, I mean he is worldwide handsome 😌

Loved this, I haven't seen this one yet. When they audition in Korea though, they're not auditioning to be in a group but to become a trainee within the company, there are no guarantees they will ever make a debut. Sometimes the company will take on kids with no experience at all because I guess they see potential in them. But training life is so hard for them because they have so much to learn just to keep up with other trainee's who already have years of practicing their skills. Sorry about my english.

Actually, he was casted by the one of the top idol company in South Korea but he declined it because he though it was a scam. Jin is a Theater student major in acting in college and he was casted by the big hit in the street, he joined big hit not to be an idol but to be an actor, however Bang PD nim (Big hit's CEO) put him in a boy group which is very unfamiliar to him. He doesn't have any interest or background in singing, dancing and rapping compared to the other members. He struggles a lot but he never give up. So as a fan I was so happy and proud of him because I see him succeed on the things that he didn't know before. He definitely prove to us that he is a professional performer ever. He is the real definition that hard works makes the dream work.

I remember it being a shocker to me when visual was a thing in a kpop group back in 2008. I listened to Asian music, specifically Kpop and Jpop, since i was 5 years old. From what I understand is that most kpop companies hold an audition for those who want to become idols. At other times, most companies would actually go find beautiful people and try to recruit them into their company which of course can become the visual of the group, models, or anything they capable of. (An example is legendary kpop solo singer Lee Hyori where one of the idol company recruiter noticed how beautiful she was at a mall and recruited her as the visual of her group back then. Or SM Entertainment tried to recruit BlackPink Jisoo at the time becuz she pretty but Jisoo was already with YG Entertainment). They train their trainees on specific skills whether it be vocal, dance, or rap. There are some idols who lack all vocal, dance or rap abilities but because some idols are so good looking, companies would ignore their lack of ability and sell their appearance to make them greatly known since South Korea is all about beauty standards. In every group, you at least have to have the best vocalist, a rapper, a dancer, and a visual to make a complete group (leader is optional). Sometimes it is a bit burdening to be called the visual becuz it sounds as if they arent good for anything except for looking good which is why a lot of visuals work ten times harder to prove they are more than pretty faces. This is all i understand but someone can correct me as well. Also, i am proud of Jin's improvement. Funny thing was becuz he my bias, i didnt know he lacked a lot of skills when he joined BTS and boy was I mad when I found out how limited his lines were back in the day. Im glad he got more lines, dancing and singing improved and stage presence now and even better, i dont want him to ever shut up.

As their visual Bighit ordered Jin to be cold and aloof they said he was handsome so he needed to show a cold side to the audience hence he came off as quiet most of the time in BTS's early days. It wasn't till later when he started acting more childish and goofy that people really noticed him and Jin noticed that it made people happy so he kept it up. He's really a very mature and self aware person while still being a natural entertainer.

Its just an audition, at the end of the day its a process of elimination and they chose Jin because he sings well over a period of time, remember they started the journey in 2010 and debut in 2013 so there are many ppl got cut but the 7 were the best for BH and that is how it should be

I watch a lot of korean dramas and there are many actors who come out of Kpop, so it's not such a reach that Jin's acting career will take off in the future. Big Hit is an entertainment company after all. While, right now they only manage BTS, in the future they may have actors in their stable like the other entertainment companies.
