The Marble's Parang, and I have had several machetes in the past 40 years, is the best way for me to trim my hedge that I know. I've had Marbles Madness for 50 years. The reamer, with a sharp edge, in the position that it opens to, is the best thing in the world to strike a fire starter rod with.

Quite amazing so little time dedicated to de legendary Ideal. I have one from my grandfather, he bought it in 1920 and we r still using it 100years before. I wd love to buy a new shinny Ideal but I have many US made great knives thta are about 40-50 bucks, they´re American, not chinesse stuff and work perfect ( ontario SP1, SP2 and SP6) , so I feel theres a huge gap from 40$ to 280 or more margble´s is asking for that knife, and please keep making them in the USA, nothging wrong about El salvador , I feel re4spect for every man in every nation, but as scotch whisky has to be made in scotlad, some things got to be US made.

Guys those are "fullers," not "blood groves."

You guys are both wrong, as I believe on the Marbles "Ideal" pattern those channels were designed as big as they were,...for "Weight Reduction". Personally. I've never liked the look of that knife, and I've seen some older ones that have been sharpened over the years where the edge is now very close to the groove. A flat blade without that grouve with get 2-3 times the lives-of-use out of it! 🙂 The old Marbles Woodcraft pattern was (and still is) a classic beauty IMO...

@@josephtousignant7318 aka...a fuller
@josephtousignant7318
@josephtousignant7318 Жыл бұрын
@@jusme8060 Personally, as LARGE as the "fuller" was on the original "Marble's Ideal" pattern knife, it's purpose was very clear to anyone with any common sense. It was there to greatly lessen the overall weight of the knife, and help in getting to a better balanced knife. (especially in the longer blade lengths!). Giving a knife this "feature" of course greatly lessened the overall lifespan of useful life, since as we have seen through the passage of time many of them have been resharpened right up to near the start of the lower lip of the cutout. SO, in my mind Marbles missed a great opportunity in marketing it.(although ithe "Ideal" was always a best seller for them). Because the cutaway area was MANY times the size of the usual "fuller" (again because the intent was to save weight and better balance the knives),... they should have marketed it a knife having the first "lesser", and described it as an advantage in weight savings and knife balance where *"less is more"! In simpler times where common sense seemed more prevalent, that "feature" was obvious as to the intended benefits. (* "less is more", according to the Oxford dictionary, that phrase is defined as: "used to express the view that a minimalist approach to artistic or aesthetic matters is more effective."

Great show guys. Caught the last half here and the first half on FB. Marbles is doing some pretty cool stuff. The first one that I bought was the Fly Fisherman. And I still love it. Scissors on it are down right awesome and it works great for not only fly fishing but Ice fishing.
