Light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol (16-0, 11 KOs) retained his WBA title with a one-sided unanimous decision against Jean Pascal (33-6-1) in the main event of one of the final HBO Boxing broadcasts, which took place at the Etess Arena in Atlantic City, N.J.
Bivol further cemented his place as an elite light heavyweight against an opponent in Pascal whose best years are far behind him. Nevertheless, Pascal did what he had to do to survive the 12-round affair against Bivol.
In the end, Bivol took home a decision with scores of 117-111 and 119-109 (twice).

Bivol looked in control from start to finish. Pascal honestly looked like he understood he was in trouble by the 2nd even if he did survive the fight and try to rally in the 8th and 9th. Big punches aren't enough to take a fighter with the kind of surgical precision of Dmitry Bivol.

@ishmailnganga4425 Yes, that's normal when the opposition is heavily on drugs. And Bivol rarely goes for ko. He is outpointing his opponents. That's what Russian and Ukrainian boxers do. Klitschko brothers in their early years said explicitly that they understand that the people paid for the ticket to see the fight not the guy floored in 2 rounds

@@miguelcardenas2413This fight showcased the fact that power is not the only thing to get you a belt. Fast punches and accuracy though….. And of those, Bivol got LOTS. Combined with good high closed defense he is a impenetrable fortress who collects the most points himself.

I agree that Pascal put on quite an Entertaining Fight and was Bangin. But this is when you have to Really Look Closely at both fighters, and I Mean Closely. Look at Pascals Forehead. There are some Mumps. He’s got a good tan, but they can’t cover up swells That Size, especially with the Camera Close-up at the end.
