would you recommend the aputure 60d with a lantern softbox or the GVM bi-colour 100w lighting kit (also has a lantern softbox)? I will be using the set up as an upgrade to my ring light for self tape auditions. The noise output is a bit relevant but I am mostly after soft flattering lighting :)

I ordered this light for filming on my channel and while it does great with lighting , as I turn up the light’s brightness I can hear the fan or a low humming sound. And sometimes when filming it picks up the sound . I don’t want to edit sound each video, so I’ll have to add light music in the background . I really wish the light didn’t have any sound feedback. I’m thinking of getting rid of it , what other lights would you recommend that display great but with no fan sound. I already have two Neewer 660 LED Lights that I use.

This is the only soft box in the price range that I've used and recommend, the cons aren't so bad! However, I did just get the newer version of this light that also has RGB and now I use that one most often! Ben I have a question, i already own a neewer flapjack light, could this replace the softbox of the video? or flapjack are worse in terms of quality for lighting a face or less soft? I would really appreciate if you could help me with this, thank you

This will be softer, but the flapjacks can still work great. The larger the light is and the closer it is to you, the softer the shadows will be The large softbox is what makes the light soft In the case of the flapjacks, they can still work good if you get it close to you, and can work really good if you use two: one as a key light and one as a fill You can also shine the flapjack through something like a 5 in 1 reflector to soften it even more I teach about all of this in my lighting course if you’re interested in going deeper: www.learnvideolighting.com

I have two flap jacks for some freelance work but I’m finding it hard to set them up for interviews (especially during Covid with a wider distance), would you recommend this for those scenarios??

I would still set the lights wherever you need them to be, the lights shouldn’t need to be distanced... this is a great option but you’d have the same issue most likely. It all depends on the look you want to achieve

Great question with a two point answer. Yes and No. I think it’s softer and overall perhaps looks a smidge better It’s cheaper But the flapjacks are more portable If you have the space, and don’t need the portability as frequently get this one If you are in a tighter space or need to shoot on location more oftent, I’d prefer the flapjacks

In my opinion I think you should make the intro edit a lot shorter and more minimalistic, and talk about what we would expect to see from your youtube videos after the intro edit, I just think that fast and minimalistic is the new trend and flashy and long is more of a old thing. I'm not trying to hate I'm just saying my opinion and maybe trying to help a little bit , I love your videos and still watch your videos around the end regardless if the intro isn't really my thing
