These guys are still jacked even in their 50s. They are very underrated on a stage show scale for sure. Never seen Gwar even main lineup but been a fan since 93 born in 88 so yeah they were like my morning kid show when MTV played actual music videos and saw the video and was hooked ever since.

Oderus visited me upon his passing. I had a “Dime shrine” and one random night I took down the tribute magazines and in its place I put up my GWAR bloodied shirts. Next day a co worker told me Brockie passed. Spirits exist. Fucker visited, miss you man

Or playing in the heat at festivals during the day. There's a few old videos and pics of the original Beefcake the Mighty with his helmet off (like the version of Cool Place to Park from Live in Antarctica) and his hair is completely soaked and stuck to his head. Huge respect to these guys and gals for doing this consistently in those conditions, while sounding awesome too.

@@JAMBI.. yea it is. they opened a bar in Richmond Va. I think they avoided the mayhem of the peaceful protests here too luckily!! Allot of businesses weren't so lucky. They used to have a big summer bash here called the GWAR-BQUE for their fans but i think they stopped doing that

I was lucky enough to grow up going to plenty of GWAR shows in my day, still feel it wasn't enough! Rip to the fallen GWAR team and keep it going to the rest! GWAR can never be destroyed, GWAR lives FOREVER on! I'm a naughty fellow! Sexcuse me! Seriously they are one of the top fine best bands to ever have existed! 💀🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘💀

For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be an official scumdogg. In the '90s a friend/promoter gave my band the choice to play a gig with GWAR or The Vandals. We chose GWAR even though we loved The Vandals and were more there style. My friends band got the The Vandals gig, which got them a record deal. The GWAR show never happened. But if it did, I would be a scumdogg this very moment. Goddammit Keith Pagent!

First time I saw them was at Schaefer Court at VCU for free. The next time I saw them we stopped at 7-11 for sodas after the show and the cashier called 911 because she thought we’d stumbled in from a car accident. The last time I saw them was when I was on the road as a lighting roadie for Ice Capades and they were playing the same town (Houston)

Anytime I see anything GWAR it always reminds of the of a few times we went to see GWAR and this time was at St. Andrews Hall in in Detroit and it got so blazing hot they actually took off their costumes except for their masks and finished the show in just their underwear!!!!!! Was anyone here at that show?????? GREAT NIGHT!!!!!!

funny you say that, same for me, and I kind of regret it greatly. It was never my thing, it just seemed so silly growing up but it still seemed less sillier than KISS. The song meat sandwich was in a way a early meme (WAS THE 90'S) in my friends circle but not in a bad way. I finally couple months ago started to dive into them, and I'm quite regretful about it. You should check out their performances the did several years in a row on some show thing? Look for the pet shop boys cover. Kinda incredible what they did to that song, and many others. I actually think I like Blothar more as a lead singer, no disrespect to the late Dave Brockie he is clearly the full embodiment of GWAR, but Blothar really kills it. Going to be hard to fill those shoes upon inevitable evolution.

The last tour I remember him being on was the 1996 Ragnarök stuff. This 2017 interview features a new costume though so I guess he was touring with them again when he did this interview.

They have a very wide range. I'm more into the older stuff. Salamanizer, sick of you, vlad the impaler, and rock n roll never felt so good are a few great songs.
