I worked a GWAR show once in the late 90s. I had never heard of them. The amount of work going on backstage during the show rivals any Broadway show I have ever seen. And for years we had fake blood stains on our lights from the 55 gallon drum of blood they went through. One of the highlights of my career.

I had the same kind of experience, getting to go backstage at a show in 95 or 96. Everyone was working their ass off. Somebody has to make that blood and put it in the costume so it will squirt out right. That's a ton of work. I could see that this was an art project.

"Scumdogs" was an essential part of my high school soundtrack. That tour was great but when "America Must Be Destroyed" came out, holy hell. One of the most absolutely terrifying & vicious mosh pits I've ever experienced was right when the heavy break kicks in during the song "Have You Seen Me". R.I.P. Dave Brockie

Saw them 10 times starting in 02 until 13. Best nights of my life, When sleazy p came back in 2008 and we got to see slaughterama live, epic. We were also lucky enough to drink with Dave brockie once after a show. I got a poster signed with my buddy and we thanked him and went to leave but he stopped us. Then insisted we had a couple beers because he remembered us from the year before.....and the year before that....and the one before that lol. Dave was a big Battlestar galactica fan like my buddy and they talked for days about it lol. I have never seen it but Dave went full on nerd with my buddy it was great.

"Hell-o," "Scumdogs...," and "America Must..." were three of my top ten go to albums in high school hands down. I always had a fondness for their ability to bring a tongue in cheek approach to metal with artistic expression. I just regret I never was able to see them live during their early 90s run. Very much looking forward to seeing this film

As a musician who has spent significant time on stages over the years, I can attest to the extreme difficulty of performing either outdoors on a hot summer day or in a hot club full of sweaty human bodies. But I cannot even begin to imagine just how exponentially difficult it must’ve been for the members of Gwar to perform in those conditions whilst wearing those costumes.

I've been patiently a few years for this documentary. So great to see ot debut on a platform like Shudder. I just hope they offer it for sale in some form, as I would love to have this in my collection. As a diehard fan that was there almost from the very start, I am really looking forward to seeing Hunter Jackson's take on things as he was such a huge part of things and after he left, you could really see the difference. Gwar has seen so many changes over the years, but that America Must be Destroyed/Toilet Earth era was the peak and I really look forward to hearing his take on where it all went down hill.

You can send him a message on facebook and he'll reply. I chatted with him a bit and he was cool. I used to send GWAR fanart when I was a kid and he sent me a letter thanking me. I agree that the band lost something when he left. They put out some albums that had good music but they were lacking in the humor and story department. Then Dave died and they changed again. I don't like the Blothar albums at all. I think they should've hung it up after Dave's death. Like Slymenstra said, it's become a joke with no punchline.
