Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. I have reviewed quite a lot of diode laser engravers on my channel, including 5W, 10W, and 20W. Today, I am going to review a CO2 engraver from Gweike Cloud.
This machine comes with a 50W CO2 laser tube and all linear rails, including the X and double Y-axis. The working area is 510mm by 300mm, or around 20” by 12”, which is a pretty standard size for a 50W CO2 laser. The maximum speed of this machine is 600mm/s or 36,000mm/min, so it’s much faster compared to most desktop diode laser machines, which generally work at around 10,000. This machine is fully enclosed and has a small slot for you to slide in longer materials.
Generally, a reasonable quality 50W CO2 laser cutting would cost around $2000. As this Gweike Cloud costs around $3000, let’s see what extra features we can get.
It has a built-in 5 Mega Pixel camera for you to align your workpiece, and it supports WiFi and Ethernet for connecting to their web-based cloud software. Of course, if you prefer using your own software, you can use the USB port to connect to your computer and run LightBurn.
It has built-in LED lights, and it comes with an exhaust fan and an extra ducting system with a 3-layer HEPA and carbon filter for you to exhaust the smoke outside.
Unlike a regular CO2 laser cutter, which requires you to have a bucket of water ready and uses an aquarium pump to cool down the laser tube, or you may buy a water chiller, so it looks nicer, this machine has integrated the coolant tank and cooling radiator inside the enclosure, so it comes in one piece. Therefore, this machine has a nicer appearance and a more compact footprint.

Many specifics are addressed here regarding this type of machine. After 2 decades we can finally get rid of that bucket of water on the floor. If the coolant is anti freeze it would be handy for usage in places where temperatures go below freezing or transport through freezing conditions; otherwise the places with the liquid will have Rupture.

I have been enjoying your reviews, finding them helpful and I appreciate your measured and thorough approach. In this video you, stated the Gweike machine has better cut quality than 'most' diode lasers, and I was hoping you might elaborate. Are their diode lasers with better (though slower) cut quality? Thank you!

I would say that this not only applies to the Gweike machine. In my opinion, CO2 lasers cut faster and better than diode lasers.

Hi Aurora, Great review, thanx! I do have a questions, since you tested both machines: I now have a Twotrees TS3, bought this diode laser mainly because it was enclosed and was hoping it would extract fumes nicely. However, in my tiny office it smells like I burned down a whole forest after I engrave or cut any kind of wood for longer than 15 minutes, even when I have a hose connected. How do you think the fume extraction is on the Gweike? Do you really smell nothing at all, or is that just because you're in a huge space? Like I said, I have a tiny office, so if it's not perfectly extracting it will smell pretty darn fast haha

I would say adding the 6" duct fan helps a lot, just the exhaust fan at the back of the machine may not be enough to create strong negative pressure, and smoke may still escape from the gaps.

Seems like the biggest con would be cost. You can get a larger and more powerful CO2 laser for the same or even less money (and I'm not talking about the junk ones from China).

Hello. Great video. Congratulations. Is the laser lens Dust? May it be possible? Is there a black circle shadow in the lens center? If so, if you clen the laser focusing lens, the cut test will be faster, better speed results on cutting test. Best Regards.

They are essentially the same machine, with the metal case cutouts being nearly identical. Therefore, I wouldn't expect one to be better than the other.
