Gwent can be a little bit overwhelming for a beginner. So I'm creating my beginners guide deck series. Today we take a look at the Northern Realms Starter Deck. For just 340 scraps, you can make a few key improvements to give this deck a little more power. I also go through the key synergies, how to play the deck, and recommend some key Northern Realms gold cards to craft.
Expanding on their popular Witcher franchise with Gwent, CD Project Red are following the trend of creating their own collectible card game. Players must compete across 3 rounds to outscore their opponent and come out on top.

I started playing this game couple days ago and after tutorials and testing all the starter decks for few rounds I've played only Northern Realms. I just love it! I lost my first fight with the starter deck but felt like there's huge potential by making the deck more proper. So I created my own deck from scratch, although it probably would've been wiser to just adjust the starter deck as a beginner. Anyway I'm really loving the deck I have right now, but seeing this video has immediately given me some ideas on how to improve still.

I don't know how to not comment on your videos because you're just incredibly so helpful! The way you explain things has me understanding the mechanics so much faster and exploring decks with much more confidence. I used to be right into MTG ages ago and I tried Hearthstone which provided little appeal to me. Gwent + your videos has me thinking I finally found one I can sink both my teeth and hours into! Just so, so good!

I just started playing this week and these guides have been really helpful. I appreciate the effort you put into explaining the logic of each move you make. I'm wondering if you can give us a small update for this deck as it seems Reinforced Treb no longer has the inspire effect and seems far less useful (among other cards, I imagine)?

Great video, however after patch 5.2 I do not know if the deck is still viable. Trebuchet got nerfed.

Think I'm gunna craft priscilla she seems perfect for this deck. I've swapped a few cards out for replacements already and unless I'm up against a control deck or a bleed deck I do OK. Sometimes I can outpace bleeds with boosts too. I call it the shooty boosty deck. Edit. I crafted shani. Still havnt managed to see if she works with the aretuza adepts. If I can get those 2 on the board with the usual engines should be untouchable

Hello ! Thank you for the helpful guides, could we expect updates on this sort of content since some cards changed ? (Also you missed a win at 25:48 boosting the guy that damages a random unit on boost with the field medic instead of the other two would've given you 1 extra dmg I think)

Hello! I just started playing Northern Realms and I love it. Already created the improved starter deck. However I am unsure on where to continue. I saw you had a few options to include to improve the deck. But what do I replace them with? Can you link me another improved deck on the improved northern realms deck :)

Please make more starter/mid guides please! All there is out there is 100% beginner or 100% advanced. There's nothing for standard players, i.e. mid-cost decks, not too hard to understand how they function but not too dumbed down either.

25:52 if you had played the medic between Anna and the Tridam you would've procced the Tridam again giving you the extra ping for the win.

I know this video is kinda old, but I’m new and does anyone have any recommendations on what to swap the trebuchets out for if I should even swap them out? They don’t have the inspired ability anymore so I would like to know if there’s a better alternative

I notice inspired removed from the reinforced trebuchet. I guess it was too powerful. I wonder if these units are worth keeping in the deck now. Maybe hold them in hand until we have units on the back row. Not a very good engine as you have in this video anymore.

Thank you! I’ve been playing NR exclusively on IOS, and a mix on PS4 for a couple months. On IOS, I started great (I think) winning at a 75% rate and climbing up to level 26. I’ve been playing your deck and like it a lot. But now I’m winning much less because I’m matched against stronger decks. It this because of my level? Or is this a deck matchmaking thing?

As you rank up you will play against better and better opponents who have also ranked up. So it gets more difficult. So then it's time to try and improve the deck :)

Sadly, the Reinforced Trebuchet no longer benefits from being "inspired". I guess the card was slightly overpowered before.

How many expansions did they release after the base expansion? I was thinking abt coming back into the game but I am not sure if my scraps will be enough

We have three. Crimson curse, Novigrad and Iron Judgment. Even if you don't have enough scrap for every card though, you should have enough for a few good decks, and the meta is fairly balanced right now.

Killing the botchling is so hard for lvl 6 (wi 3)! Almost guard like health it has. Has anyone killed the botchling on lvl 6? How?

@@GamerSamraat It´s is super hard! use Axii on the botchling and Yrden on the Specters. Be sure to have a lot of food.

Yeah some cards or leader abilities can give zeal to an order card.
