A look at the Great Western Railway 1400 Class (originally 4800 class), featuring 1450 in action with auto trailers at its current home of the Severn Valley Railway and on visits to the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway, Llangollen Railway, Didcot Railway Centre and Great Central Railway.
We also see 1420 being shunted at the South Devon Railway and 1466 on shed at the Didcot Railway Centre.

fun fact: in the RWS, Oliver has a faded number on his buffer beam, that number being 1420. that makes this particular engine the real life Oliver.

Turns out that Oliver’s actual number is 1420, which they found when they digitally remastered the original illustrations. Meaning that this is actually Oliver

Oliver 11 was my favorite character in thomas and friends growing up, so seeing his real life basis alive and well is pretty great. It's also surprisingly quiet for a steam engine

Who can remember these on the Exe Valley line? 1466 was definitely there. I'm told they ran at 60mph plus on occasions ! Bampton station was a gem to behold.

Well they can dashes on the rail at an incredible speed of 80 miles per hour(128 kilometers per hour), probably due to the advantage of their large driving wheels.

What is an auto coach and why put an engine in the middle of 2 coaches. I grew up near the Paddington line, so never saw any branch line engines at work. 61xx series were the local work horse, with Castles etc pulling the Bristolian and Cornish Riviera and the like.

Basically an autocoach is where you can drive from the coach itself instead of going around, for your other question 2 autocoaches is called a sandwich. I also guess its for extra capasity*(probably spelt it wrong)
