It was the official anthem of an independent Tibet, and the anthem of the government in exile. It is now widely used as a the "Free Tibet" anthem, and it is strictly banned in China.

First of all, thank you very much for sharing your questions about Tibet. This is very important for us Tibetans. I suggest that the map used here should not be used. This is not a map of Tibet. This is what the Chinese authorities say about Tibet. This map does not include the entire Tibet, nor does the Dalai Lama's hometown.

I don't. First, this is not an anthem that fits sovereign nation. This anthem would be good for a feudal kingdom, but not for a modern country. Second, while chinese colonisation of Tibet is indeed bad, years of free Tibet were also not pretty. It was a feudal kingdom, where lords imposed on serfs incredibly high taxes and barbaric punishments like gouging out tongues or eyes were commonly practised. Not to mention that it was a literal undemocratic theocracy. For the records, I don't say chinese colonisation of Tibet is for this reason justifiable in any way. This is the same argument UK and France used in the 19th century to justify colonisation of Asia and Africa. What I'm saying is pre-communist Tibet was an awful place to live and we should move on from it.

We know that it will be extremely difficult to free ourselves from china, but the main thing we want is or culture to stay alive, and not die. That is our main goal, knowing it will be close to impossible to be completely free. all we want is that and that alone.

I have read that the Pala empire of Bengal had influenced Tibetan Buddhism a lot, and Pala literature is referenced in Tibetan literature as well. Being a Bengali, I can't help not noticing the similarity of Bengali alphabets and the Tibetan alphabets looking at the subtitle. Of course, I suppose there are other influences as well along with the Tibet's own indegenous ones. Respect Tibet from India.

lama is a title for aristocrats in slave state Tibet. A Khanate is a vicious form of government where more violence is the source of authority. Why want the people to suffer?

China claims Sikkim (till 2003) and Arunachal Pradesh as part of Tibet province. Ingen has used the map of China claimed Tibet, and not what Tibetans want themselves. And please I'm not a fake ID. 😄

@prem neupane no states were annexed here are 3 main states discussed, Hyderabad--we attacked Hyderabad in 1948 coz Hyderabad nizam was attacking people of Hyderabad and Hyderabad's pm said our home minister that they will wave it's flag in red fort,Delhi(capital of India) Kashmir--we have signed documents in which it is written by king of kashmir HARI SINGH that he and his land needs help from India and he is ready to became part of India Junagadh--king of junagadh ran away to pakistan with the help of pakistani submarine coz he wanted a higher post there and more money and he leave his people and his family 3 wives and many child's If u wanna know about any other territory or disputes let me know i will tell u.

This is one of my favorite anthems ever, if not my favorite. It's the only one I know that wishes that all beings, without exception, receive wisdom and compassion. In my OPINION, there are more than enough anthems out there that, although beautiful in their own ways, wish for the destruction of others and/or invite the people to swear unconditional loyalty to their countries. DISCLAIMER Before anyone attacks me for criticizing having loyalty for countries, let me clarify things: I'm NOT saying that one shouldn't care at all for their own motherlands, cultures or communities. I only have issues with UNCRITICAL nationalism and other things like that, not with the idea of belonging to specific groups. Humans are social beings. In general, we HAVE to feel that we belong (more or less strongly) to some group, lest we fall into depression. But we also have to acknowledge that tradition is not always right, because it's created and transmitted by people, and people make mistakes.
