I was playing a little safe and I feel it lost some of the shape I might normally add. This was my second attempt, and I was playing it after I nailed a different recording first attempt. I could really feel the pressure by the end and you can see my hands visibly shaking.

This is amazing. I bought a digital piano in the middle of the pandemic but until now I didn't seriously got to learn how to play it. Just this week I started my classes with a classic pianist here in my city. If in two years I play this piece as beautiful as you are playing in this video, I will be absolutely satisfied. Well done.

Just came from your 1 year progress video and glad to see you are still at it! I can see the progress and use of more finesse and varying finger pressures dynamics with the leading voicing. I'm a violinist so I don't know the proper terms for piano lol. Great work and keep going!

Thanks. Those are the terms I use so I hope they are correct 🤣

It's great to see you again playing piano, and wow. That's really good interpretation on this piece! I enjoyed it a lot. Hope to see some more recordings from you :)

Hey thanks. Yeah, I’ve not stopped, just eased back a little as other aspects of my life have demanded more attention. I recorded a few pieces at the same time which I’ll release over the next couple of weeks. One of which was Ballade which I see you’ve also just recorded. Mine is full of little mistakes which you’ll be able to spot having learnt it recently. They are minor though and I doubt most people will realise. Besides I’m past the point where I’ll try and record something too many times. It’s just too frustrating.

You've come a long way! After many failed attempts, I will now embark on at least 10 mins a day of practice. Hope to play this lovely piece someday.

@@DanielLearnsPiano I've tried a couple of times. I think I've got the first part down, but I'm only roughly 6 months in, piano experience wise. Sounds lovely though mate 👍🏻

@Trimaxionmusic 6 months would be a massive stretch. I’ve wanted to play it for ages but my piano teacher urged me to wait until I was ready. I’ve been playing for almost 4 years now. I still found it difficult.

Sounds good to me! I remember playing all three of them a couple of months ago, I really enjoyed the third one as well, though the first one is the only one I still play now and again, just to relax.

Yeah, I like the Gymnopedie No. 3 as well. However, the next Satie piece I learn will probably be the Gnossienne No. 3. I re-recorded Gnossienne No. 1 at the same time as this piece and but will publish that next week.

I am also trying to learn this piece as a total beginner... but i guess it is still to advanced and I need more general practice... but I fail at consistency. :(

As I said to someone else in the comments. I've wanted to play this piece for a long time, but my teacher always urged me to wait. I started going through it earlier this year when I had been playing for 3.5 years and I still found parts of it tough. It has a simple melody, but it's not an easy piece. If you are a total beginner, I would definitely hold off and instead practice more level appropriate material. That's what will develop the skills you need to play the more advanced pieces.
