This follows the previous wedding video, where Paris and her immediate family were getting ready for her big day. The ceremony was quite long, so I've cut out a lot where the priest was giving his sermon, and conducting the Holy Communion.

You are very observant, Pat! Unlike most of us, though, gypsy brides don't have the same amount of alone time - if at all - with their husband's to be before their marriage, so it's only natural that she looks for moral support with her family at that time, don't you think?

Travellers don't spend time together alone before marriage, so they are often quite self conscious together in a formal situation such as this. They do choose their own partners though, unlike in certain cultures where arranged marriages are the norm, and generally stay married together for life.

Congratulations! They make an adorable couple, but they are way too young to be getting married! Neither one knew what to in church. Their lack of maturity and awkwardness made it hard to watch... I understand this is an important time to your culture. But please, Gipsy moms, give your children just a little bit more time to mature and even throw in a few life lessons before allowing your children to marry. This will benefit them and both families greatly. Good luck to these sweet kid's... 🎉🥂

I understand where you are coming from, Robyn, and you've phrased it really nicely, but its a lot to do with their culture, which doesn't allow for premarital relationships in any shape or form.. 22 isn't necessarily too young to get married: I also got married at that age, as did one of my nieces - anx we ourselves are not travellers/ gypsies. This bride will help her husband and be a good wife to him, as ate most of the gypsy young women who I've had the pleasure of meeting.. It's just a different culture, with different expectations and norms of behaviour.

The bride and her maid of honor spent more time adjusting their dresses. The bride's dress was beautiful but not meant for her. The groom did not look happy. So few people at the ceremony.
@ReelLifePhotos
@ReelLifePhotos Жыл бұрын
Lots of points there, Debra. 1. It was a traveller wedding, on a budget, and the bride's mother did her best to pay for everything so that her daughter could marry the man she loves. They don't necessarily behave the same way as people from other communities. 2. Yes, I often warn well endowed bride's not to choose a strapless dress, but its usually too late by the time they book me, as they tend to choose the dress first. 3. The groom was uncomfortable at the ceremony, but he "let his hair down", at the reception, and enjoyed himself, as expected. 4. It was a small wedding, as the groom lived a long way away from the bride's family, so they chose to manage their guest list within their limited means, which is what many people do, regardless of their lifestyles. Does that help?

@magdalloyd3445 Also, it was just a small wedding, as the groom's family lived far away from the bride's family, so not only could not many afford to attend, but the families also chose to keep it small to stay on budget. Not all travellers can afford a huge wedding, you see.

Bless her heart, she had the sweetest smile on her face! But she was so uncomfortable and the dress, although beautiful, did not fit her well. Whoever the Bridal agent was that sold it, or lent it to the bride should have taught her how to move, and most importantly how to walk in a gown of this magnitude. The Bride and her attendants should have a class before the wedding day to learn how to move, walk, sit, and manage the train and veil. It is not easy if you have never worn one. It is a true shame that these gypsies girls have such beautiful gowns on their important days and milestones in life but are not taught how to look like a lady and glide with grace while wearing them, but instead, look so awkward that her inability to move properly takes center stage. Shame on those that are in the Bridal business and do not provide proper training. She was a beautiful Bride.
@ReelLifePhotos
@ReelLifePhotos Жыл бұрын
That's very thoughtful of you, so thanks for taking the time to pen your thoughts. Most of these huge, heavy dresses, make it impossible to glide in, though they all make a great effort to dance in them for several hours before changing into a lighter number for the end of the night. Pushing each foot forward, seems to be the only way to proceed, though never having worn one like that myself, I can only comment from personal observation. Thanks for being so careful to be kind and helpful.

Things have changed a lot lately, actually, Paul. I recently met a lovely Romany gypsy working in a hospital, who, in her late 30s, is still happily single and working as a nursing assistant. She is not the first I've met on my travels, either. I think this stereotype is largely outdated, as the younger generation use Facebook, Instagram etc, and all are capable of using their phones for texts and WhatsApp messages, so don't tend to be illiterate any more. Many I know live in standard houses and have their own businesses. I don't doubt that many still aspire to be younger mothers and take great pride in their children, and keeping their homes spick and span but that, in itself, isn't exactly a bad thing, is it?

It's a good point Juliieanne. However, what you have to remember is that travellers don't have pre marital relationships. They are not even allowed to be aline together prior to marriage, so naturally they can be rather uncomfortable being the centre of attention, particularly the men. The women have their dream dress, and it all revolves around that for them, in general. Once away from the church though, they all enjoy a good party, so there are absolutely no concerns to be had about their future happiness, no more than in any other relationship.
