From 15th to the 17th of May 2023, the Conference on Transitional Justice Mechanisms was held in Juba, South Sudan with the theme, ‘Building a Sustainable Model for Transitional Justice in South Sudan’.
Convened by the Government of South Sudan, through the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and the High-Level Standing Committee on the Roadmap (HLSCR), the Conference aimed to fulfill the requirements of Chapter V of the 2018 Revitalized Agreement for the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS).
It was supported by UN Peacebuilding Fund, African Union, German Development Cooperation, the Kingdom of Netherland and UNDP.
In his opening remarks, the President noted that he would "never take South Sudan to war again".
