Certainly at a more brisk tempo than the choir I sang with, could ever manage. What a great piece, fabulously performed!

This is an amazing performance of Dixit Dominus. It has the clarity, drama and elegance that should make Handel smile. And it's such a delight to discover the conductor Emmanuelle Haim. She's a huge treasure. I'm so thrilled for her.

Absolutely fabulous singing. I've always considered this one of Handel's finest compositions. At every level it excels. Its emotional intensity and creative invention never ceases to amaze. I have a recording of the" Sixteen" performing this thrilling work and although extremely competent and imaginatively sung, is not even close to this performance. Emmanuelle Haim is an amazing musician. She simply transforms the score and gives it an energy and emotional intensity other conductors simply fail to achieve. Glorious.

Who would think that Handel created a work so mature in every respect in his early 20ies. Another thing is that youth is bold and reckless, to technically it's quite challenging for the performers :)
@helloxyz Жыл бұрын
how young! Have you heard Opera Proibita ? with Bartoli ? And read the cover notes ? He was a beast at 20, destroyed Corelli, who was probably the best violinist/orchestra leader in Europe at the time. I think he wasted his time in England, once he made it made it big. A sort of Baroque Liszt.

@coursdemusique93394 жыл бұрын
Les finales se sont pas toujours ensemble, le choeur est tendu au début, la justesse de certains débuts de phrases est à retravailler, l'orchestre ne va pas au bout des dynamiques souvent... mais où voyez-vous la perfection ?

@pilouetmissiou5 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed everything I heard with this Ensemble. Their quality is high; the choir is very beautiful and the Orchester too. This work is beautiful and I did not know it so I have no references. Maybe in the end I would have chosen a slightly slower tempo in order to give more majesty but I generally like the rather fast tempi so it doesn't become boring ... for me ... Haimi is an orchestra conductor who uses the body a lot to direct. .it is quite typical in her. However, everything is always very precise .... a beautiful moment
