Welcome to "The Outsider" by H.P. Lovecraft.
A short story that is fascinating on many levels. Written between March and August 1921, first submitted to Weird Tales Magazine in 1925 and rejected, then finally accepted in 1926, it received very mixed reviews upon its release.
Today, almost a hundred years later, "The Outsider" is one of Lovecraft's most often reprinted works and it has also become one of the most popular stories ever to be published in Weird Tales Magazine.

Not being familiar with Lovecraft I found this an interesting story. I've been reading Ancient Evenings by Norman Mailer and recognised similar themes. Good work!

I'm glad, you enjoyed it. Thank you! 😊 It's an interesting story, indeed. I read that upon its initial publishing, many found the ending predictable. I will be honest and say that while I didn't find it the most creative one, it surprised me nevertheless. Thank you for the books suggestion. I'll certainly check it out

Thanks, Bud! :) I tend to agree with you regarding the story. It's not Lovecraft's best. I nevertheless found it fascinating because it's so close to Poe's work. In parts, I found the story barely distinguishable in style, yet - in my humble opinion - it doesn't match Poe's clarity.
