Hello and welcome to another short story, and the mystical landscapes of Arthur Machen's "Strange Roads".
Welsh author and mystic Arthur Machen is best known for his supernatural, fantasy, and horror fiction.
His probably most well-known works are "The Great God Pan" and "The Hill of Dreams"
One recurring theme of Machen's stories is the thin veil between the seen and the unseen, a world where the mystical is real and the boundaries of reality are blurred, and in which nature and landscapes are characters in his stories - not unlike Algernon Blackwood's works, and specifically, Blackwood's story "Ancient Lights", which I read not too long ago.

Machen's influence is obvious in the works of later horror writers, such as H.P. Lovecraft, who regarded Machen as a master of the weird tale.
I hope you will enjoy "Strange Roads" by Arthur Machen, a story quite different from the ones I read before.
Let me know - if you want to - what you think of it.
