I don't care much for "hardcore" thrashy stuff, but when a songwriter and band can marry melody, heartfelt sentiment and balls out rock together it's fucking beautiful.

It's the same reason why Bad Brains are such a fantastic group, the blend of energy and melody is super potent

I would consider this hardcore at all ? This mellow compared too most .
@RiskGrave3 жыл бұрын
When Husker Du emerged, they were considered hardcore. Obviously pretty mellow compared to what'd pass for hardcore 35-40 years down the road. For my money, their energy has aged well though.

@@gupster24 yeah with 1 camera and the one with the camera has been paid for ... because its his job ... today you just see almost everyone holding their mobilphones up in the air and filming the whole session instead of enyoing their time, youth and abilitiy to be there ... if i where in a band i just would break up the whole concert because its absolut disrespectfull to me... on the other side as a tour booker i would just forbid taking videos on smartphone an make a free download and code for everyone whohas been visting the show

I find it really interesting that there was some of this hard rocking music which totally sounds like it was from the 90s going on in the 80s which sounds nothing like "80s music" the way pop culture normally defines it. Also punk rock. I wonder what my little mind would have thought if I saw this at the time when I was 10 years old. It would have been such an alien experience to me, only ever having heard highly curated mainstream radio music and top 40 stuff.

I remember first time seeing Husker Du's "Makes No Sense At All / Love Is All Around" video on a cable-access UHF show in 1986. I saved up some money and bought New Day Rising LP and the "Makes No Sense At All" 7". The 80s SST record label roster of bands were the best.
