The Paris gun or Paris-Geschütz were long range artillery guns designed to bombard Paris during World War 1.
It had the distinction of being the highest range projectile fired during WW1. The gun pushed artillery technology to the limit and the shells reached stratospheric altitudes to cover such long distances. Little was known about the technology since the guns and plans were destroyed. However the engineer's notes were discovered by Gerald Bull 70 years later.

They had to calculate the rotation of the earth while the shell was airborne as an aiming factor

I’ve just found this channel, and it’s really fantastic. Each video, while short, clearly has a lot of effort and love put into each one. That last part about Gerald Bull finding the notes is an interesting point, for those who don't know, he was one of the lead men in the idea of a Spacegun, using a cannon to launch payloads into orbit, and worked with the US Government, and later for Saddam's government, to pursue that objective.
