The vintage really sounds like rock and roll. The new versions I would use on cleaner pop records

Both sound good. Vintage seemed to have more low end to me. New maybe had a little more bite. Both totally musical and useable.

I appreciate the effort put in by tracking the exact same recording through both setups but by the way the different sources are sequenced it's impossible to compare them. If instead of preamp - eq - preamp -eq it was preamp - preamp - eq -eq you would have instantly been able to tell the difference between new and vintage

Something tells me - you just need to drive the shit outta the new ones until they wear in... and leave em powered on, in the hot summer sun. abuse them until they sound old. haha

I own the H2 Pre & EQ 0011 and I am very pleased with it and thinking of getting more.

The vintage modules sound more relaxed and open. Slightly more compression happening in the new models but of course totally useable. Would love to hear what they sound like going to tape like they were designed to.

It's sounds really good. Some subtle differences with the vintage and the reissue to my ears, mostly with the EQ engaged, but those are subtle, and differences, not negatives or positives. What I'm hearing from the H2 0011 sounds great to me. Would love to have one in the rack!

Vintage definitely has a bite and a grit to it that I miss when I hear the modern. Hearing them this way is a little disappointing, however H2 put out a video show casing their new 19” unit that sounds unbelievable, and not hearing it in a comparison scenario makes me appreciate the H2 circuit more.

Wow! honestly, the preamp sound is virtually the same. Im blown away. With the EQ engage i found that the vintage one feel more open and the H2 have more bite, but that could be slightly different EQ setting.

I love the helios sound and every single record done on those desks. St Swettenham 🙏🙌🏻✨ H2 it’s pretty cool and very close to the original module but I can heard have less bite especially on the mid range that is the hot spot on the helios sound. The low end it’s cool, the hi-end instead it’s a little bit much opened insted of the original one but it's also clear and good. I will have two in my studio to try it on couple of records

pretty close.vintage has a bit more bloom in the lows.more chewy creamy smoother in the mids.H2 feels a bit harder in the mids and a little brighter with eq engaged versions

This is such a tough AB to pull off properly. Kudos to the folks who put this together. The vintage modules do indeed sound slightly thicker and less brittle. I actually prefer the extra bite of the H2 on some sources (bass namely). I can't imagine pulling these new H2 modules up and being bummed (certainly not double-the-cost-for-a-vintage-module bummed).

I prefer the new 0011! It sounds more modern and has a faster/clearer sound than the vintage ones to my ears.

The H2 are sounding slightly more modern, especially the EQ. The Preamps meets very close together. They all are doing the "Helios" thing,, a little bit "wooden", clear, different character like comparerd to API or Neve, Super comparison guys!!!

Seems like the H2s have fairly harder bass and are more scooped in the mids, While the vintage have softer mids and maybe by contrast more linear creamy mids.

it's hard to hear the exact differences because of the order but i feel like the H2 + EQ sounds more finished?? wish it was in this order though: vintage > H2 > vintage + EQ > H2 + EQ. either way it sounds marvellous!!!
