Savard was always a dirty player despite his skill. Loved that Wendel Clark taught him a lesson. Pound for pound, the toughest NHLer of the era.

Come on buddy Clark was a kind of a goon and dirty. Very often sucker punched. No gentleman here.

I remember when Savard as a Blackhawk, flipped the puck into Terrion’s face because he didn’t like being covered so closely during the game.

Clark was a good player but this was the kind of thing he easily could and should have done without. Savard was no threat to Clark or anyone else in any way except scoring and obviously that is a physical mismatch, so that was just not helpful or necessary. The high stick was careless but completely unintentional and therefore is beside the point.

Savard was chippy on the ice. Cross check to the back Is what started it all so Savard opened himself up ,and soon as he see's Clark coming at him he pop's him with a butt end. You think Clark was mad for know reason ? Savard was a chippy player and got was coming .

I wish Clark had played on the Caps. The Caps have always missed that sort of player.

Yes and no. The fighting and hitting were amazing, the stars in the game were amazing but the hooking, slashing and cross checking went unpunished way to often which was really bad for the game.
