I’m in this exact situation. Over a year of dating but not quite ready to be engaged. I stayed for two months in his country but I can’t live there forever and we just want him to be able to come visit. Such a terrible and stressful situation to be in and it places so much unnecessary strain on a relationship. We feel as though we have no choice but to not mention me in the traveler visa because if they hear that he has a girlfriend in America they almost certainly will deny. Especially since he does not have many ties to his home country. Hoping that it doesn’t come back to haunt later

In the time where online dating is so common (and after the world went insane with the pandemic), you'd think they'd make things easier (and cheaper). My boyfriend and I met online right before everything shut down. He's in Nigeria and I'm in California. He's been trying to come visit, but things either take too long and/or are too expensive. Its crazy.

Hi Jim, have a question because im quite confused on " CURRENT STEPCHILDREN" in N-400 form. I don't have my own child BUT my husband has adult children. Are these adults children considered as CURRENT STEPCHILDREN?

I’m going to my boyfriend’s country, and I want him to visit me the following month. We plan to file for a fiancé visa after one of those two visits. But we’d be applying for a visit visa this month sometime, which is before either visa. He has a business in his country, but no other ties. If we can get the fiancé visa mailed before a visitor visa interview, will this help or hurt us?

@HackingImmigrationLawLLC hi I'm American and I been dating my Thai Girlfriend for 7 years now, we have a 3 year old daughter together. I'm currently in america , what are my chances of bringing my girlfriend to america for 1month so I can see her and my daughter. I can't get vacation time from my job and I haven't seen them in 6months. Her only ties to thailand are she takes care of her 12 year old daughter from a previous relationship and her daughter will be staying with her grandma for the month. She also owns a motorbike and has a lease for a house she rents. She is a stay at home mom I send money every week to them. I'm not ready to get married, I would like for her to meet my family and let her see america before we make the next step.

Stupid laws in america. Wish the consular officers would be a little more logical and reasonable. I travel outside of the US for more than 6 months in a year. Me and gf have traveled to Canada, Australia, Europe, all over Asia, but the US has no interest to give my gf a tourist visa after multiple tries. There's very strong evidence of no immigration intent, but not the standard kind (she's young and unemployed, can't have stable job or school with international travel for half a year). We're not going to stop traveling if my gf comes to the US for a 3 week visit. Some people just enjoy traveling the world with their girlfriend other including visiting the USA. Any tips to expose this problem with strong financial backing?

The reality is that everyone indeed wants to come to get married, especially people from poor countries. I myself got married to two Americans. The first one was a drug dealer (this is not a joke; it is actually real). When I arrived, I stayed at my girlfriend's house. She told me she had lost her job, and since I work remotely for American companies, I could stay with her and marry her. I said, "I can't do that; I will become illegal." She then explained to me that if I marry her, they will give me a green card through a process called adjustment of status. I could not believe the USA had such a stupid rule. I said to her, "What? Do you mean that anyone with a B1/B2 visa can just marry someone and get a green card? Then they are not giving tourist visas; they are giving away green cards. It is way too easy!" If I had anything to do with immigration, I would make all green card applications consular processing. My marriage did not work because, as I mentioned before, my girlfriend, then wife, became a drug dealer. I went to an attorney and told him, "I want to get divorced and go back to my country." He said to me, "Are you crazy? Don't you know that if you do that, they penalize you?" I asked, "What do you mean?" He explained that I would be banned for 5-10 years. I was surprised because I never overstayed; I got married like three months after entering the country. I applied for adjustment, which means I was never out of status. The attorney told me, "You have no status; we need to withdraw that application, and maybe in the future, you may marry again and become a resident." To be continued...

It’s all about money.. so basically my girlfriend would not likely get approved for a visitation visa, so basically you have to be married in order for the visa to get approved? That’s kinda stupid.. well that’s America for you. What a joke 👍🏻😂
