Yea, I can attest to that. I overstayed my visa trying to acquire at least 3 IT certifications for my job back home in the time given. Overstayed by about a week, going back home with 2 Certifications. 5 years later, I am now tasked to go to conferences in Vegas for the job, and even tho I explained what happened to the Boss, he said, nevermind about that, apply for your visa, and I did. Consular Officer had a field day with me on that one. Kept shouting at me, WHY DID YOU OVERSTAY YOUR VISA?? And I kept telling him I just got too ambitious and wanted those certifications. He insulted and berated me in front of everyone in that waiting hall, and at the end of it, he said, "You Visa has been approved! ..NEXT!!" Hi Jim, thank you for sharing this info, now I do have a question coming up, my parents overstayed their B2 visa at the beginning of the pandemic 2020, they supposed to be here for 3 weeks and they overstayed for another 2 or 3 weeks because they were freaked out. This is wild advice. There are many, many situations where it would be prudent to file to extend or change your status (or have a petitioner file to change your status) in the U.S.

I'm an American citizen, 50yo, and receive SSDI income. I met my partner 6 months ago on Filipino Cupid match making site.
