I had a stroke I March after being on the carnivore for 18 months, I was in the hospital for 3 days, I didn’t get the clot buster because my stroke symptoms went on for more than a day, I didn’t even know it. I only understood what was happening when I started falling over. I went back to work 2 weeks later I credit it to the carnivore diet. Of course my blood pressure and LDL and total cholesterol was high, triglycerides was normal HDL 99, too high. Took a CAC Score it was zero , cardio angiography was normal, all thanks to carnivore. I refused to eat while in the hospital. My blood glucose was from 60 to 83. The nurses were not happy that I was not eating. They were worried about my blood glucose. I told them I was fine. When I got home i fasted for 5 days, then on sardines for 3 days with occasional stick of butter. I was asked to go to a cure rehab , I refused. I needed my freedom at home, well I knew how to rehab myself. So I decided to come home. Still have a slight limp in my gait, but making progress everyday. Eating: beef and eggs mostly with occasional sardines and of course butter. I am not on blood pressure medication but I tell my doctor it won’t be for too long. My fasting glucose was 105, and fasting insulin’ 13.5. I told her I was insulin resistant, she looked at my AIC which is 5.5, and told me I wasn’t. I told her I will prove to her insulin and not cholesterol kept my blood pressure high. Oops please pardon me, I went off with my story.

I had a stroke after about 3 years on carnivore. Felt really well. No more cravings. I do have some plaque in the carotids. Also I began eating a lot of red meat the last year before the stroke... My bp was elevated, and I had always had low bp in the past. Am on medication now. It's all very confusing. I can't find any studies that tie carnivore to stroke. So am back to eating a "balanced" diet, my digestive issues are back.

@@tl4702 everyone asks this question. Having stroke is human. Most of the time they are only guessing what caused them. More than 40% of the time they cant even find what they think caused it. About a million Americans have them every year, and there it literature that goes back to the 1600's documenting it.

A while back, I saw some carnivore channels had videos about a carnivore dieter who had a stroke. Most of the leading carnivore advocates don't seem to have any problems with having honest dialogues about health issues. At this point, there are probably hundreds of thousands of people around the world on carnivore and near-carnivore diets. I wouldn't take it personally that you aren't getting attention. Most KZfaqrs are largely unknown. The carnivore advocates you're thinking of likely don't even know your channel exists. It's the nature of the KZfaq algorithm.

Yeah she was an elderly lady. All the vegans blamed the carnivore diet. She was carnivore for only one or 2years. She even went plant based. It turns out she had a small hole in her heart and she threw a tiny clot from that. Her stroke had nothing to do with diet at all.

@Chaer1924, agree. I think most people that call themselves carnivores are not actually 100% eating carnivore. It's hard to keep that up. Not saying people can't do it, but I think that the ones that can are the exception, not the rule. I do occasionally eat butternut squash or asparagus or brussel sprouts. Most weeks I eat only animal products, but on the occasional weekend I will have some veg. I still consider myself a carnivore, but I try not to be dogmatic about this stuff. Everyone's health journey is different. N=1 experiment.

Had a bad chest infection and developed heart failure, as my treatment was fkd up and delayed for 2 weeks while I developed pneumonia. Examinations showed some blocked arteries too, but these have taken years and years of vegetarian diet to build the problems up. Im not changing my diet as everything else is so much better, and Im sure it is helping me rebuild my heart strength. Who cares about any club? I am 3.5 years carnivore and just went through blood clots in a leg and lungs. Recovered much quicker than anyone of the docs thought would happen. Never had pain or shortness of breath and none of them believed me. I also believe changing the diet is why I got through it so well. Eat what you need to eat for you. Carnivore is 'mostly' meat anyway. Our ancestors would have eaten whatever they came across and thought was food, they certainly would not have turned down anything they thought they could eat. As long as you are happy and think you are doing well, forget others who want to label you anything, they are irrelevant.

So far, they are normal, but my parents have had issues with BP and my mom with abnormal glucose not full diabetes, two siblings are diabetic now and bp elevated. In my mother's side, most die with diabetic complications and related diseases. Her BP has caused her dementia, and right now she is deteriorating faster, and we feel very helpless. I started keto three years ago, and I have slowly become more carnivore, but I still eat a few greens here and there, no problem. My club is one person member, me, myself and so farI am doing fine. The carnivore/ketovore/ketogenic diet helps us heal from the consequences of years of bad diet. Might have changed the diet too late to change the stroke or heart attack outcome but the diet will help heal and mitigate the deleterious effects of those events. At least I hope so. Thank you for sharing your health story.

Hey FrugalPrepper i am 25 years old and way obese. Im 6 feet and weight 350. I was up to 375 at my highest. I work a moderately physical job, im on my feet for about half the day and on a Hyster or in my truck the rest. I have high blood pressure but on two pills for thay and have pre diabetes and severe sleep apnea. I cut out all energy, and sugar drinks lately as well as gas station foods. For breakfast i have black coffee and a bowl of whole grain Cheerios, for lunch a salad with ranch packet from the store and dinner is a bit harder for me but ive been trying to find something light and easy I can have. Ive been trying to move more and count my calories. I did try the carnivore diet but stopped because it made me feel bad, not enough greens. So now im just counting calories but it is hard, i havent lost much! Ive been thinking about adding in exercise its just hard when you work 10-12 hours a day and have an hour commute.

I have found that counting calories works for fireplaces, but not for humans. I eat more calories now that I ever did before, far more. Exercise is not part of the equation for healing your metabolism and loosing weight. You burn 95% of your energy just being alive and breathing. Eat less move more is a myth. I would skip the Cheerios, and the Ranch packet has seed oil in it. The carnivore will make you feel bad at first because you a withdrawing from carbs and your body is learning how to run on ketones again.

listen to this fella ... you'll lose weight without exercising... and eventually you'll feel you can exercise and things will continue to improve. I was 46 inch waist .. dropped to 34inch in 3 months. I am not rigid over the last 24 years but have maintained a 36-40 wasit size by eating meat , eggs and cheese and fish for 2-3 weeks every now and again. I should be more disciplined but I am not. You'll learn a lot about diet.

Cheerios? Seriously? Eat a veggie omelet with that black coffee instead. As far as carbohydrates are concern, cut out the sugars and starches, consuming complex carbohydrates instead, those containing fibre, like vegetables. Also, try intermittent fasting, working your way up to extended fasting. That will make a big difference in both health, appearance--and your bank account. Just to let you know, consuming simple carbohydrates, like sugars and starches, increase glucose in the bloodstream, increasing insulin level which also blocks fat burning.

Hi, I'm new to your channel. It showed up on my feed today. At some point, I'll get a bead on your carnivore or ketovore lifestyle. I joined a couple of carnivore subs: one is counting calories and macros, do this, do that. I burned out early because it caused me anxiety, and the lady looked anorexic. The other one, at least we get to see her cook and actually eat the food. I have watched many carnivore TY channels, and they are all over the place. Geez.

Tom, I would love to have you on my channel. Nuance is important. Right now you are in a medically dangerous situation and you need some supervision with an expert. I would recommend seeing if you could do telemedicine with someone in Dr. Westman’s clinic. He has run a low carb weight loss clinic at Duke for decades. You seem to be self treating and that is very dangerous especially right now . I wish the best for you and again, let me know how to contact you if you would like to have a nuanced discussion. All the best.

Keep on doing what you’re doing, if you say that you believe that your strokes were caused by eating poorly, and not because of the carnivore diet, and great continue to do that because we all believe you and I’m sure there’s others like me and the carnivore club wants you to continue with your message especially how it probably saved your life from the terrible weight and blood pressure and all the meds were on. Incorrect me if I’m wrong, but you’re still on the carnivore diet correct ? Even after having the stroke.? that’s fantastic. Hopefully, it will continue to heal you.. keep on making great videos

I’m so glad to hear that you’re feeling better after your stroke. Your stroke was not caused by your (previous) carnivore diet. It was caused by decades of consuming sugar, carbs, toxic veg seed oils and man made chemicals from the SAD diet. That diet also caused your high blood pressure. Regarding your having trouble with hard poops/constipation, as Dr Chaffee says… If you’re having hard bowel Movements or constipation, you need to up the fat and if you’ve got the reverse (loose stools), then reduce the fat. Most carnivores are not getting enough fat. Dr Kiltz says… carnivore should really be called FATOVORE bc most people who start or do carnivore aren’t eating enough fat. I wasn’t getting enough fat early on either, and when I added butter (and/or beef tallow) to my meat and eggs, it resolved these issues with hard stools fairly quickly and easily. If you want to continue eating big salads with your meat, more power to ya. However, just remember that vegetables (and fruits) are literally soaked in man made pesticides like glyphosate which is extremely toxic…. It is a poison. I don’t know about you but a little bit of poison every day is too much poison for me. I don’t want to put any poisons or toxins in my body so I have stopped eating vegetables and fruits for the most part. I do sometimes have berries and once in awhile I might have some avocado or asparagus. One more thing.. are you putting g salad dressing on your salad? If so, you might want to check to see if it contains veg seed oils… most of them are loaded with this and other chemicals and potentially even sugar. Hope this helps!😊😊

I do eat plenty of fat. I fact I could not eat any more, I have no gall bladder, but I eat plenty. I was not caused by not eating enough fat I was caused by High Dose nifedipine. Before Nifedipine...no constipation, On Nifedipiene... Constipation, after Nifedipine...No Constipation. Some veggies are full of man made pesticides and round up. The ones I eat are not, because I grow them in my garden myself. I also make my own salad dressing.

Good on you. Glad you’re okay and still eating meat. Sometimes it helps to add some plants just depending on what’s going on in your body and we each need to find what works for us. The strokes were going to happen obviously and your recovery is down to your diet. Most of us on carnivore don’t judge anyone who does what they think is right. It’s just the judgemental few who might have issues. You just do you.

I'm curious why you feel you have been kicked out of the carnivore club? Your sharing YOUR story and I'm sure it's helping others. That's what matters. I too went in with a strange symptom in my arm and was kept for three days because they couldn't get me in for an MRI until then. They found one previous stroke but all the docs who saw me kept saying they couldn't tell if this symptom that I reported to emergency was a stroke. I too was insulin resistant and I know my metabolic health has drastically changed since going Keto/ Carnivore 6 years ago. Last checked I am PATTERN A. Triglycerides 57, ldl160, HDL 94. I'm a lean person so weight isn't a problem really. BP is normal to more on the low side. I take it several times a day. My cardiologist had me wear a halter monitor for a month to see if I showed any sign of a-fib but there was no sign. After the event that lead me to emergency I had a follow up with my neurologist several months later and he ordered a 2nd MRI with contrast and what ever that was that had happened had disappeared. He speculated maybe it was a weird migraine I had or some kind of seizure. They never could tell me it was a stroke. But I do know I was fatigued and had a weakness that shifted from one side to the other back and forth for a good 6-8 weeks after that "event". I ate mostly carnivore during that time and I know it helped me heal quickly. I do believe that I did have a 2nd stroke regardless of what all the docs say because I know my body but it was so vague and the original MRI was so unremarkable that they never could confirm this. My only "symptom" was I had a weird tingling numbness move from my hand to my elbow and stop. But I knew it wasn't normal so off to emergency I went. They put me on Eliquis in the hospital and tried to put me on a statin but I wouldn't take the statin. I have family history of Alzheimer's and so I know I'm predisposed. My neurologist took me off the Eliquis and put me on baby aspirin once a day. Anyway, thanks so much for sharing your journey. Good for you for being your own best advocate. I have a strong feeling you're going to be just fine!

You feel good now, but it's a trap long term. Eat a carb and see how high your sugar spikes. It will be just as bad as before you started the diet, maybe worse. It's just masking the symptoms. Then, the longer your on it, the less tolerant you'll become to foods you once could handle. I bet its already happening. And I'm talking about whole foods, not processed. You're trapping yourself in a corner.

You could be sensitive to salt / sodium like me. I am not overweight but my BP stays in the 170-199 and can’t move it. I found in my labs I have low renin. Have been working on filling my deficiencies. I am very dizzy, nauseous and it’s so frustrating. I had the vision problems when I had to call for an ambulance and my BP was 232 ! I really thought that was it, scary scary scary stuff. Look into Renin and Aldosterone. Aldosterone and renin play important roles in the body. Aldosterone regulates your levels of potassium, sodium, and overall blood volume. High levels of aldosterone can result from a condition called primary aldosteronism (PA), which causes high blood pressure. PA is also known as hyperaldosteronism or Conn syndrome.

If you went on a plant based diet your blood pressure would go down drastically the next day. Leafy green greens like collard greens mustard greens arugula watercress turnip greens book choy dandelion lettuce and raping are low in oxalate and fine to consume. also garlic works great on lowering blood pressure. There is a lot of misinformation out there by those promoting carnivore. @frugalprepper Even if you don't do leafy greens, you'd probably do better with more starches. They produce satiety. Dr. John McDougall videos are great where he promotes starch... potatoes, rice, etc. He says you just can't eat all leafy greens with a Vegan diet. They're just not filling or satisfying enough for most. He says to eat both leafy greens and starches but to concentrate on the starch.
