Joking aside, I don’t understand how the hell they are allowed to get away with ‘self charging hybrid’ when they’re just assisted ICE cars. The equally misleading ‘full hybrid’ is also frustrating, seemingly implying they are better than plug in hybrids which can actually drive significant distances on electricity alone….

My window cleaner said exactly the same thing last week. He said he was thinking of getting a Self-charging hybrid, as they charge themselves. He thought it was an electric car, that once charged, got all of it's energy from a "dynamo thing" as you drove around in it. I said "you do know you have to fill it with petrol, else it won't go anywhere?" he said "I hadn't thought about that, yeah, that makes sense now." After he'd gone, I smashed my head repeatedly onto the wall of my house until it stopped hurting.

We live at top of a very steep hill. The EV uses regeneration to charge the battery. The battery is charged by the time we reach the bottom of the hill..Never ever needed to charge our EV.
