It’s interesting how in this song they are actually telling you to go away, “turn and swim back to your shore, sailor”, while the first song is them telling sailors to follow their voice. I think that this is because this song starts playing when you kick Scylla’s ass enough times that she actively tries to dissuade you from approaching

Yup! It also hints as to which song you'll usually hear in the boss room as this almost always is followed by Claw out your eyes

In my playthrough, I noticed this song started playing in Oceanus where in the last run Scylla had dialogue abt how they listen to feedback from fans, and Mel’s critique was that they were drowning sailors, so i took this song to mean that they do, in fact listen xD that run i was so looking forward to more dialogue addressing it but there wasnt any :’)

I have a theory that this song is the "enchanted" version. When you go through the level, something so melodious and pleasant plays, but when you go to the sirens, they are actually singing about how they will claw out your eyes and drown you. The music, the motive itself and some of the lyrics are similar to I Am Gonna Claw. I wish that's true.

I think to hear this song you need to beat scylla, the other song beckons the player to go towards the sirens, this one does the opposite. I havent tested but suspect they sing this one after you beat their ass a bit

There's actually 3 singers for these tracks! If you check out the description, they list that Erin Yvette (Scylla), Ashley Barrett (Roxy) and Judy Alice Lee (Jetty) are all vocalists for the tracks in this region. Seems listing them in the title would be a bit too long...

I wish I had the musical vocab to pin down why some of the Hades II songs remind me of the Transistor OST, e.g. whatever's happening at 0:30 reminds me of "Impossible" and "Dormant". "Song of the Sirens" obviously reminds me of "In Circles" and "Signals", and the techno Tartarus songs have some real Cloudbank vibes with those awesome crunchy drums. There's also gameplay stuff, like Hades' Arcana Cards working a lot like Transistor's Functions. I'm only 11 hours in and I love the little "aha!" moments I keep having.

I agree with this so much; The Arcana Card thing is something I just put together. Good catch! 👍 I find that Hades 1 (in general) gave me some Bastion vibes. My reasoning for that isn't much beyond both playable characters being male, although, both Transistor and Hades II have female playable characters, so maybe I'm onto something.

Hippocampus are literal sea horses (as in aquatic horses) in Greek mythology. The name Hippocampus was later applied to real life seahorses. The part of the brain that is responsible for making and packaging memories, the Hippocampus, later got its name because someone thought it looked like a seahorse
