Hades stands out as one of the best games of the year in a year that's had most of the best games of the decade. I've been really enjoying all of Supergiant's projects through the years and this is probably my favorite so far. When this song kicked into gear for me as I was fighting Meg, I lost it. I instantly wanted to pick up a guitar (after I had my ass handed to me by Meg) and figure out what the hell was going on with the time signature!
There were a few ways to approach it, but I'm never a huge fan of alternating time signatures. That was going to be an issue since it felt like a solid 21/8 for the main parts of the song. I ended up counting it in 7/8 with some synchopation in there and it worked out beautifully and insanely fun to play. I could hardly looking menacing and Hades like in the video because I was having so much fun playing it! The solo I wrote at the end was incredibly hard to write but I did my best and hope it still sounds good!
Mixwise I've still been using the Sonarworks setup to try and get a better read on how my mixes will sound to the general public, so especially with this one having acoustic guitars throughout, I was nervous to release what sounded good with the sound profile and not so good without it. The game is not your typical rogue-like and I've been having a blast fighting my way through its crushing difficulty and amazing soundtrack. Gods, this just makes me want to hear Jules and/or Adriana cover some of Supergiant's other games too, Hades is sooooo good, but the other games get no love in the cover scene, and I have a sneaking suspicion Hades is gonna get a ton of covers. (Not that it doesn't deserve it, Darren Korb killed it with this soundtrack, but I would love to hear Jules cover Thrash Pack from Pyre or Adri and Jules cover The Spine or In Circles from Transistor, for instance.)

The best part is playing the game as each level progresses the music, so by the time you get to the Fury Sisters you have reached maximum climax. And then the final riff once you finish the boss/song is a wave of endorphins.

In the game after you clear a room the song drops everything but the baseline until you enter the next room. I cant describe how amazing it feels in the game, especially in Elysium.

An advice for you, don't cool down until you beat the game at least 10 times. And never take any room with a double gifts, it's just a waste of HP. And save your gems it's really useful and difficult to farm. That's all, see you in hell.

Fenzle double boons are really good, certain gods (Athena, Poseidon) are much easier to survive the wrath of than others so just be smart about which one you pick first
